Yuki Hirotani's Photo Exhibition: "Embracing the Spaces Between Us"
Nikon Imaging Japan, a subsidiary of Nikon Corporation, is set to host the Yuki Hirotani photo exhibition titled "Embracing the Spaces Between Us" from November 18 to December 1, 2025, at THE GALLERY in Nikon Plaza, Tokyo, followed by a display in Osaka from December 11 to December 24, 2025.
Artist's Perspective
Hirotani, born in 1987 and hailing from Osaka, shares profound insights into the invisible spaces that exist between individuals, such as the bond between parent and child or the connection between photography and the unseen world. According to him, these invisible gaps are filled with emotions, hopes, and sometimes prayers.
"I have become increasingly aware of these 'spaces' that cannot be described in words. The exhibition captures my journey in pursuit of these various thresholds, illustrated through the theme of 'Life and Death as One,' envisioning life as a flowing cycle that doesn’t separate the two. Each photograph serves as a fragment appearing in different realms, materializing what is often invisible."
Hirotani emphasizes the significance of moments when chance and inevitability collide, sensing a mysterious force akin to a chemical reaction manifested in his photography. This exploration results in a captivating body of work that invites viewers to contemplate existence and the unseen.
