On September 9, 2026, the International School of San Francisco celebrated a significant milestone in its 64-year history with an impressive ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the completion of its extensive campus renovation. The renovation project redefined a structure that spans an entire city block—originally constructed by Caltrans in 1948. Covering around 177,000 square feet, the building carries historical significance while transitioning to meet the needs of modern education. Over 300 windows were replaced to allow natural light to flood the interiors, noticeably improving energy efficiency. The upgrades include a modernized HVAC system, refreshed classrooms for both lower and middle schools, redesigned workspaces for faculty and staff, a brand new commercial kitchen, and a playground thoughtfully designed for children’s engagement. Most notably, the newly constructed high school features its own entrance, providing an important sense of identity for high school students as they become part of a larger communal fabric.

Additionally, the state-of-the-art science and design technology labs reflect a commitment to hands-on learning and innovative thinking, aiming to inspire the next generation of leaders and global citizens. One of the most impactful additions is the school's first-ever food program. Preschool, lower, and middle school students can now enjoy nutritious snacks and lunches prepared on-site, while the high school features a bistro offering convenient grab-and-go options that cater to older students’ busy schedules.
