Aignostics Partners with Pancreatic Cancer Action Network
Aignostics has announced a landmark partnership with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) to further the research initiatives focused on one of the most challenging cancers: pancreatic cancer. In this collaboration, Aignostics will leverage its advanced artificial intelligence capabilities to analyze and generate comprehensive data from PanCAN’s extensive dataset.
The partnership is aimed at producing spatial profiling data that will assist researchers from academia and the life sciences industry in their quest to better understand and potentially improve treatment outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients. As part of this collaboration, Aignostics will utilize its AI-optimized application, Atlas HE-TME, to review pathology images hosted on PanCAN's SPARK data platform. This state-of-the-art application performs tissue quality control, cell classification, and tissue segmentation, generating more than 4,500 quantitative data points from each image.
One of the most significant aspects of this collaboration is the accessibility of the produced data. Not only will it be available to academic researchers at no charge through the SPARK platform, but it will also include molecular, clinical, and imaging data from over 1,400 pancreatic cancer patients. Life sciences companies will have the opportunity to license this invaluable data for commercial use, paving the way for new discoveries and advancements in treatment methodologies.
Pancreatic cancer is widely recognized for its poor prognosis and historically low survival rates. Over the past few decades, improvements in treatment outcomes have been marginal, a situation primarily attributed to the highly immunosuppressive nature of this cancer. The collaboration aims to enhance research capabilities by providing robust new tools to decode the complex biology of pancreatic tumors and improve clinical outcomes. Viktor Matyas, CEO of Aignostics, emphasized, "We are proud to contribute to SPARK and enhance its capabilities. Our mission revolves around transforming complex pathological data into actionable insights for patients, and this partnership significantly aligns with that goal."
Furthermore, Sudheer Doss, PhD, commercial director and head of patient health at PanCAN, stated, "This collaboration brings powerful AI tools to PanCAN's SPARK dataset, enabling the transformation of complex data into biological knowledge that can lead to improved patient outcomes. By adding spatial insights to this multi-modal dataset, we can gain a better understanding of how tumors develop and interact with their surrounding environment, potentially unearthing new avenues for treating this elusive disease."
About Aignostics
Founded in 2020 as a spin-off from Charité Berlin, Aignostics is an AI-driven company dedicated to converting complex pathological data into transformative insights. By combining exclusive access to multi-modal clinical data, cutting-edge technologies, and rigorous scientific methodology, Aignostics develops next-generation products and services for precision medicine. Their Atlas HE-TME application, a self-service solution designed for comprehensive tumor microenvironment profiling, is available to biopharmaceutical partners and academic researchers. Aignostics also offers OpenTME, a freely accessible dataset comprising pre-calculated spatial outcomes from tumor microenvironments, alongside a research access program that allows eligible academic researchers to analyze their own HE slides free of charge.
