Experience Authenticity at Haneda Airport
On November 4, 2025, a unique event titled
'Touch Authenticity' will take place at the
Art Dash Gallery located on the fifth floor of
Haneda Airport's Terminal 1. Organized by the
Miyadaiku Wooden Construction Techniques Preservation Association, this event offers a precious opportunity to interact directly with Japan's cultural heritage.
In collaboration with the
Yamaguchi Experience Art Museum, which opened on October 29, 2025, in Ota City, participants will have the rare chance to physically hold a
Matcha tea bowl created by a Living National Treasure and the
tea scoop used by the tea master Sen no Rikyū. Attendees will also have the delightful experience of tasting matcha, showcasing the deep connections between culture, craftsmanship, and aesthetics.
Preserving Cultural Beauty through Touch
The art of wooden construction by
miyadaiku craftsmen has long been responsible for building shrines and temples, shaping Japan's spiritual and aesthetic sensibilities. However, the aging of skilled artisans poses a significant challenge for the continuation of these techniques. The Miyadaiku School aims to establish a contemporary education system that enables learners to acquire both technical skills and the philosophical underpinnings of this ancient craft, connecting the esteemed practices of
miyadaiku through
1400 years of tradition to future generations.
This event emphasizes the philosophy that “experiencing authenticity initiates a sensory inheritance.” It offers participants a chance to interact with cultural artifacts in an unprecedented and direct way.
