Amplifon's New Climate Strategy Aims for Significant Emission Reductions by 2030

Amplifon Sets Ambitious Climate Goals for 2030

Amplifon, a leader in hearing solutions around the globe, has recently unveiled its comprehensive climate strategy, which is officially backed by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). This strategic plan is designed to significantly lower the company’s greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with the global objectives established by the 2015 Paris Agreement aimed at combating climate change.

The ambitious targets set forth by Amplifon include a 42% reduction in direct greenhouse gas emissions (referred to as Scope 1 and 2 emissions) by the year 2030, compared to the levels recorded in 2023. Moreover, the company has also pledged to decrease its indirect emissions (Scope 3) by 25% in the same timeframe. These indirect emissions encompass a range of activities including emissions from purchased goods and services, capital goods, fuel and energy-related activities, upstream transportation and distribution, employee commuting, and the use of sold products and franchises.

Amplifon’s strategy does not stop at internal emissions; it also emphasizes responsible sourcing. By 2030, the company aims for 44.36% of its suppliers to implement greenhouse gas emission reduction targets that are in line with scientific consensus on climate change.

Amplifon's CEO, Enrico Vita, commented, "The introduction of a scientifically backed climate strategy marks a significant progression in our commitment to integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors within our operations. Our concrete commitments concerning emissions reduction are aligned with the sustainability plan we initiated last year, which includes 20 measurable objectives for 2026, 2028, and 2030, addressing products, ethics, environmental responsibility, and community engagement. Our goal is to foster growth in a way that is both responsible and sustainable."

The Science Based Targets Initiative, which was founded in 2015 by a coalition of prominent organizations such as CDP, UN Global Compact, World Resources Institute, WWF, and We Mean Business Coalition, provides companies with a framework for setting emissions reduction targets that are consistent with the latest scientific understanding of climate change.

Amplifon, which boasts a workforce of over 20,000 dedicated individuals worldwide, offers hearing care solutions that help individuals reconnect with the emotional aspects of sound. Their offerings are characterized by innovation and personalized service. The company generates an annual revenue that surpasses €2.4 billion, operating through a vast network of over 10,000 points of sale spanning 26 countries across 5 continents.

The unveiling of this climate strategy adds depth to Amplifon’s mission not only to lead in hearing solutions but to also take significant strides toward environmental responsibility and sustainable business practices. By committing to these sustainability goals, Amplifon positions itself as a model for integrating climate considerations into the corporate strategy, potentially inspiring other businesses in the industry to follow suit.

As consumers and stakeholders increasingly prioritize environmentally conscious brands, Amplifon's proactive approach to minimizing its environmental impact may bolster its reputation and foster long-term success. Ensuring that their suppliers align with emissions reduction targets further substantiates their commitment to sustainable practices across the supply chain, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable future in business operations.
