Syngenta and WSI Mark Five Years of Successful Logistics Partnership and Expansion
Celebrating a Successful Five-Year Partnership
On October 23, 2025, Syngenta Crop Protection and Warehouse Specialists, LLC (WSI) rejoiced in the success of their collaboration that has lasted five fruitful years. Initially launched with the vision to establish a prime distribution hub in North America, the partnership has now evolved to include expanded logistics services. This significant step is a testament to the successful integration of Syngenta's supply chain processes.
A Strong Foundation: The Beginning of a Partnership
When Syngenta decided to partner with WSI back in 2018, the aim was to transform their operations in the Midwest. The collaboration was ambitious, focusing on constructing a highly efficient and scalable distribution center to meet the needs of the agricultural sector. As of October 2020, their vision was realized with the launch of a state-of-the-art, 137,000-square-foot facility located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, equipped with Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) designation and adhering to the Responsible Care® program.
Major Expansion in Logistics Services
The latest expansion allows WSI to provide dedicated freight shuttle services, effectively positioning itself as an integrated logistics partner for Syngenta's operations in the Midwest. This integration is rooted in successful past performance, as noted by Bob Schroeder, CEO of WSI, who emphasized that trust is built through consistent performance. This partnership expansion stands to boost Syngenta’s operational efficiencies, ensuring high standards of safety and reliability that both companies prioritize.
The Impact on the Supply Chain
Heath Billingsley, NA Regional Head of Production and Supply at Syngenta, remarked on how their collaboration with WSI has evolved into an essential part of their supply chain operations. The Council Bluffs facility now serves as a vital hub, ensuring a reliable and responsive supply chain that directly benefits U.S. farmers. Being positioned strategically at the crossroads of Interstates 29 and 80, the facility provides significant coverage across six states.
Apart from daily warehousing operations, WSI offers comprehensive inventory management solutions that include both domestic and international operations—a crucial capability in today's complex logistics environment. The proactive approach taken by WSI in problem-solving and operational reliability was highlighted by Vikrant Rai, Manager of Operations Strategy at Syngenta. He acknowledged WSI as more than mere executors; they are partners committed to tackling challenges collaboratively.
Future-Ready Facility with Room for Growth
Strategically designed with advanced infrastructure, the Council Bluffs facility allows for future expansion, posing WSI to enhance its service offerings as demand increases. WSI is also well recognized in the industry, having been named the Responsible Care Partner of the Year, showcasing its commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
As they move forward, both Syngenta and WSI aim to continue strengthening their partnership. With an impressive track record in achieving high-performance metrics, measurable results, and safety excellence, the collaboration shows a promising path ahead in providing innovative and reliable logistics solutions for the agriculture sector. The partnership not only supports farmers in achieving higher yields but also contributes to sustainable practices that protect the planet.
With over 17,700 employees, Syngenta aims to empower farmers globally, while WSI's logistics solutions play a pivotal role in this mission, ensuring seamless operations within the agricultural supply chain. Together, they are set to shape the future of agricultural logistics, committed to the evolving needs of the industry as they step into another successful year of their partnership.
