Open House Group Launches Indoor Heatstroke Prevention Campaign
As summer 2025 approaches, Open House Group, a company based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, is taking proactive measures to address the alarming rise in heatstroke cases, particularly in residential areas. In collaboration with Otsuka Pharmaceutical’s Nutraceuticals Division, Open House Kansai Branch has unveiled the "Heatstroke Prevention Campaign at Home". This initiative involves distributing free Pocari Sweat and informative materials to customers visiting specific stores in the Kansai region.
According to weather forecasts, certain areas may experience extreme heat, with temperatures reaching around 40 degrees Celsius. In fact, data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications clearly indicates that most heatstroke incidents occur indoors, emphasizing the need for increased awareness and preventive measures in home settings. Open House Kansai Branch is committed to fostering community well-being by participating in Osaka's "Cool Oasis Project," aimed at providing cooling spaces in collaboration with local businesses. As part of this initiative, they have set up rest areas and nursing rooms at their stores, along with distributing original posters that educate the public about heatstroke prevention.
To further enhance understanding of home-based heatstroke prevention, the company has published a Mini Book. This resource contains essential advice, such as using air conditioning while sleeping, raising awareness about children’s susceptibility to heatstroke due to limited sweating, and tips on effectively utilizing blackout curtains and dehumidifiers. Customers will also receive a 300 ml bottle of "Pocari Sweat Ion Water" to encourage regular hydration.
This campaign will run from mid-July 2025, primarily centered around stores located on the first floor of buildings in the Kansai area. Customers who view the promotional posters will be invited to visit the stores to collect their free Pocari Sweat and Mini Book. The ongoing hot summer underscores the importance of reducing heatstroke incidents at home, and Open House Group aims to play a significant role in helping the community stay safe and comfortable. The initiative will run from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, excluding Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with a limited supply of sets available.
