Reju and Circle-8 Team Up for Advanced Textile Recycling in the UK

Reju and Circle-8 Join Forces for Enhanced Textile Recycling in the UK

In a significant move towards sustainability, Reju™, an innovative leader in textile regeneration, has entered into a partnership with Circle-8 Textile Ecosystems. This collaboration aims to elevate the efficiency of textile recycling processes in the United Kingdom, promoting a circular textile economy.

Circle-8 will supply Reju with post-consumer textile waste, which will be processed at the first automated sorting and pre-processing facility for textiles (ATSP) in Europe. This is part of a broader initiative to build a network of industrial facilities focused on textile recycling. Reju will transform these materials into Reju Polyester™, a regenerated polyester known for having a 50% lower carbon footprint compared to conventional polyester and is endlessly recyclable.

Patrik Frisk, CEO of Reju, commented on the collaboration, stating, "Working with the expanding Circle-8 ecosystem and ATSP allows us to improve the efficiency, accessibility, and precision of our textile recycling processes, resulting in premium products that meet Reju's high standards. As consumers and clothing manufacturers increasingly recognize the importance of diverting textile waste from landfills, automating and streamlining processes is crucial where textile waste is present."

The partnership between Reju and Circle-8 will significantly contribute to the UK's infrastructure for processing materials and establishing partnerships towards a fully transparent and viable 'fiber to fiber' ecosystem. The agreement is expected to lead British brands and retailers towards adopting a circular textile industry model. Circle-8 will supply pre-sorted and pre-processed input materials on a large scale, necessary for Reju's patented regeneration technology, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and scalability for approximately 700,000 tons of non-replicable textile waste generated annually in the UK.

Cyndi Rhoades, co-founder and CEO of Circle-8, emphasized the commitment shared between the two companies, stating, "Reju and Circle-8 share an unwavering commitment to catalyzing true unlimited textile recycling here in the UK and globally. This partnership underscores the significance of collaboration and innovation in transforming textile waste into resources. As global regulatory bodies undertake coordinated efforts to address this issue, Reju and Circle-8 are determined to create scalable solutions that meet regulatory requirements and achieve a more sustainable future."

About Circle-8 Textile Ecosystems

Circle-8 is pioneering a new circular textile industry by creating ecosystems and infrastructures that facilitate the recycling of one type of textile into another. The company focuses on designing, building, and operating automated sorting and pre-processing facilities that turn non-replicable textiles into raw materials for fiber-to-fiber recycling processes. Their ultimate goal is to introduce industrial-scale polymer recycling facilities for textiles in the UK, working to divert an estimated 700,000 tons of non-replicable textiles from export, landfills, and incineration, making a circular future a reality.
