BBM Introduces New Business Strategies and FAST Channels
BBM Corporation, led by CEO Shinya Fukuzaki, hosted a launch event on April 27, 2026, to unveil new Google TV devices and the expansion of its FAST channels. This notable occasion showcased the latest developments in BBM's FAST channel initiative, providing insights into what viewers can expect from this innovative platform.
Event Kickoff with MC Junichi Nobisaka
The event commenced with MC Junichi Nobisaka, who outlined the key announcements regarding the future of FAST channels. He emphasized the significance of BBM's initiatives and how the new channels would enhance the viewing experience across a broad audience.
Engaging Cross-Talk on Devices and Services
The highlight of the event was a cross-talk session featuring Shinya Fukuzaki, Technology Officer Junya Enomoto, and Advertising Officer Takaaki Mochizuki. Fukuzaki introduced the newly launched device, the Google TV Stick TS-405G, which is the second of its kind in the world and the first in Japan. He remarked, "This device promotes a new viewing style, allowing users to enjoy streaming entertainment in a relaxed manner, just like background music on a traditional television."
He also announced ambitious plans to expand the number of channels to 30 by the end of the year, reflecting BBM's commitment to content diversity and audience engagement.
Enomoto elaborated on the technical features, noting that the FAST channels would deliver a viewing experience akin to traditional television, where users can directly access content upon startup. He highlighted the use of AI technology (Gemini) for improved content recommendations and emphasized B2B operational capabilities, which include analyzing channel data.
Mochizuki addressed the underlying business model, focusing on advertising as a primary revenue stream. He stated, "We aim to innovate our approach to advertising, including flexible commercial insertion timings and new formats like L-shaped banner ads, to enhance monetization opportunities."
New Channels from Various Companies
Following the cross-talk, representatives from various participating companies presented and explained their new channels. First, Yuichi Tōmoro, Vice President of the Go and Shogi Channel Corporation, discussed their plans to feature a diverse range of programming, from beloved classics to cutting-edge content, including live broadcasts to attract new viewer demographics.
Next, Shūhei Asami, Japan Country Manager of 17LIVE, expressed the intent to provide content across genres, including sports and news, while highlighting the unique opportunity to watch content simultaneously on both FAST channels and 17LIVE.
