Aerial Machine & Tool Corporation Welcomes Jim Tinsley as Strategic Advisor

Aerial Machine & Tool Corp, a recognized leader in aviation survivability and technical sewing solutions in the United States, has announced the addition of Jim Tinsley as a Strategic Advisor. This move is set to revolutionize the company's approach to innovation in the defense sector.

Jim Tinsley brings with him a vast reservoir of knowledge and practical experience cultivated within both the U.S. and global defense markets. His impressive track record in supporting a multitude of companies at various levels of the supply chain signifies a valuable asset for Aerial. Over the years, he has established himself as a reliable advisor to several prominent global contractors and numerous firms operating in the survivability systems arena.

Thomas Weidley, the CEO of Aerial, expressed his enthusiasm about Tinsley’s appointment, emphasizing the importance of his expertise as Aerial enters a transformative phase. Weidley stated, "Jim's deep understanding and wisdom in the aerospace and defense sector, both domestically and internationally, make him a tremendous addition to our team. I could not be more excited for him and for our organization." This sentiment reflects the collective anticipation within the company regarding the positive impact Tinsley is expected to bring.

Tinsley's impressive career in the defense and aerospace realm began at Jane's Information Group, where he honed his skills in product development and consulting services. His journey continued at Avascent, a consulting firm renowned for its services across various sectors, including defense and government. As a Managing Director and Board Member, he facilitated the company's evolution into a leading specialist management consulting firm that is highly respected in the aerospace and defense domains.

Throughout his two-decade consulting career, Tinsley has been instrumental in enhancing various critical transactions, as well as supporting program captures and strategic growth initiatives. His decision to transition from consulting to working directly in the defense industry reflects a desire to focus more intently on missions that resonate personally with him. Prior to joining Aerial, he collaborated with Argosy on their acquisition of Capewell in 2018 and continued to lend his expertise to both firms over time.

After witnessing the sale of the Capewell division in late 2024, Tinsley recognized Aerial as a dynamic and growing organization, an opportunity he was eager to embrace. In Weidley’s words, the core mission of Aerial is to enhance survivability and mission success for service members and first responders, a mission Tinsley deeply resonates with.

Tinsley remarked, "I am honored to join as a strategic advisor to such a highly respected and experienced brand. Aerial's survivability solutions are crucial for the effectiveness and survival of U.S. and allied warfighters, as well as our nation's first responders. Those risking their lives daily while operating in dangerous environments deserve the best capabilities to ensure their safe return home."

Tinsley holds both a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Baltimore and James Madison University, respectively, with a current secret clearance from the U.S. Department of Defense.

Founded in 1926, Aerial Machine & Tool Corporation is dedicated to designing, manufacturing, and distributing aviation survivability products and services catering to the defense community, including supply to the Department of Defense and first responders. The company aims to provide cutting-edge, custom-engineered solutions that are vital for operation in hazardous environments while enhancing mission efficiency.
