Retired General Takes Charge at GreenGen
GreenGen, recognized as a leading player in energy and resilience solutions, has welcomed retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Omar J. Jones IV as the Chair of its Advisory Board. This appointment arrives at a critical juncture, as the company is experiencing unprecedented expansion in its public sector endeavors, particularly following a series of significant contract acquisitions.
Lt. Gen. Jones brings with him a wealth of experience and established relationships within government sectors, making him an invaluable asset as GreenGen continues to facilitate projects aimed at modernizing energy infrastructure. CEO Brad Dockser expressed enthusiasm about the appointment, stating, "GreenGen is experiencing more public sector activity than ever before, and Jones' appointment couldn't come at a better time. His extensive knowledge in partnering with Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) on installation processes and infrastructure management offers vital insights that will enhance our government-private sector partnerships."
GreenGen stands out as a DOE-qualified ESCO, with a notable track record of aiding various government agencies, from federal to local levels. The firm’s collaborations with entities such as the General Services Administration and the FBI focus on energy modernization, showcasing their commitment to improving energy efficiency across public services. A significant achievement for GreenGen was being selected as the sole small business within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Energy Savings Performance Contract IV, enabling them to spearhead initiatives that retrofit aging federal facilities through advanced energy systems and sustainable practices.
In addition to federal projects, GreenGen's footprint is expanding in state and local government initiatives, evidenced by recent contracts, which involve developing community solar power solutions in Chestertown, Maryland, and undertaking comprehensive decarbonization efforts for the Maryland Port Administration, aiming for carbon neutrality.
Reflecting on his new role, Jones said, "Having dedicated years to working with federal facilities, I've witnessed the pressing necessity to enhance energy security and resilience, which are crucial for maintaining mission readiness. GreenGen possesses a unique ability to synergize energy, real estate, capital markets, and technology, which positions us excellently to confront these urgent challenges. Taking this step with a global organization rooted in my home state of Maryland makes this opportunity particularly special."
Jones' decorated 30-year military career has seen him build high-performing teams and establish solid public-private partnerships. As Chair of GreenGen's advisory board, his focus will be on guiding strategic priorities, refining account management strategies, and fortifying the company’s presence within increasingly important public sector markets.
