HIS Partners with Uber Japan to Launch Taxi Voucher Service for Corporate Travel

HIS and Uber Japan Team Up for Corporate Taxi Voucher Service

In a significant move aimed at enhancing the efficiency of corporate travel in Japan, HIS, a prominent travel agency headquartered in Tokyo, has announced a partnership with Uber Japan. This collaboration introduces a taxi voucher service tailored specifically for businesses and corporate group travel. The goal is to provide a more streamlined and convenient travel experience for companies that require reliable transport solutions for their employees and clients.

Addressing Industry Challenges

The Japanese taxi industry has been facing substantial challenges in recent years, primarily due to an aging workforce and regulatory changes regarding working hours, which came into effect in April 2024. As a result, there has been a serious shortage of drivers. At the same time, the post-COVID resurgence in economic activity and inbound tourism demand has created a growing gap between the supply of taxis and the rising demand for transportation services.

Recognizing this issue, HIS's collaboration with Uber aims to facilitate smooth transportation options for business travels, employee trips, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) activities. This partnership will also enhance expense management procedures, enabling organizations to keep track of transportation costs more efficiently.

Seamless Mobility Solutions

One of the standout features of this initiative is the effort to integrate Uber's taxi services directly into HIS’s business travel management platform known as HIS BTM Portal. The integration will enable companies to manage their travel arrangements, such as airline tickets and accommodations, all in one place, thereby simplifying the travel planning process.

Benefits for Business and MICE Engagements

For businesses and MICE events, the new service offers efficient transportation solutions for daily operations and trips. Companies can now seamlessly transport groups of attendees to international conferences or meetings via Uber taxis. This initiative not only allows for centralized management of transportation routes and costs but also accommodates multilingual services for foreign guests and provisions for premium chauffeur services for VIP participants.

Flexibility for Group Travel

As the scarcity of drivers has made arranging charter buses increasingly difficult across various regions, HIS and Uber's partnership will provide alternative options. When charter buses cannot be arranged for specific times or routes, Uber Taxis can step in, ensuring that tour groups can navigate popular tourist spots efficiently and with greater freedom in their travel itineraries.

Availability of Services

The Uber Taxi service is available in 25 prefectures as of June 2025, with plans to expand to all 47 prefectures by the end of 2027. Additionally, Uber Premium—a service providing higher-end vehicle options—will be available in all areas of Tokyo, specific regions in Chiba, and cities like Kyoto and Osaka.

Promotional Campaign

To celebrate this collaboration, HIS is launching a special campaign for corporate clients who book domestic travel or business trips through HIS and use Uber Taxi for the first time. From June 20 to July 31, 2025, eligible customers will receive a coupon worth 2,500 yen for Uber Taxi rides, which can be utilized until December 31, 2025. The coupon is redeemable within the operational areas of Uber Taxi in Japan.

For further inquiries regarding the Uber Taxi service, businesses can reach the HIS Corporate Sales Division at 050-1753-2817 on weekdays between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

This partnership not only positions HIS and Uber Japan as leaders in the travel industry but also demonstrates a collective commitment to addressing the challenges within the Japanese transportation sector while enhancing the travel experience for corporates.
