Sungrow Powers One of Sweden's First Hybrid Solar Parks
In a significant stride towards sustainable energy, Sungrow has played a pivotal role in the establishment of one of Sweden's inaugural hybrid solar parks located in Halmstad. This innovative facility is set to generate over 7,000 MWh of clean electricity annually, marking a notable advancement in the deployment of renewable energy solutions.
Pioneering Hybrid Solutions
The hybrid solar park, developed by Solarwork Sverige and Powerworks Energy, combines cutting-edge photovoltaic (PV) technology with advanced energy storage systems (ESS). This project not only aims for efficiency but also ensures energy accessibility during peak demand hours. Sungrow's provision of the inverters and PowerTitan 1.0 Energy Storage System underscores their commitment to delivering comprehensive renewable energy solutions.
CEO of Sperlingsholms Gods, Mr. Carl Kuylenstierna, emphasized the importance of this transition towards solar energy. He stated,
"We generate electricity exactly when it is needed most, in the middle of the day, and at low marginal cost." The strategic planning involved a 6.6 MWp PV installation featuring 11,928 bifacial 550 Wp PV modules—highlighting the technical advancements in the field.
Energy Storage: A Game Changer
To augment the project's efficiency, a significant 4MW / 4.4 MWh battery storage system integrated using Sungrow’s PowerTitan 1.0 technology has been established. This solution allows for independent operation of the PV system and battery energy storage system (BESS), thus enhancing operational flexibility and reliability. Fredrik Lyckvind, Chief Strategy Officer at Powerworks Energy, expressed appreciation for Sungrow’s technology, mentioning its excellent performance in Nordic climates and cost-effective liquid cooling features.
The hybrid design optimizes energy harvesting, allowing seamless integration with grid demands. Fredrik Liljehov from Solarwork Sverige highlighted the installation of 20 Sungrow SG250HX inverters, recognizing their high efficiency and adaptability to substantial energy loads.
Efficient Execution
The project faced stringent timelines, yet the installation of Sungrow's systems was completed with remarkable efficiency. Designed for challenging environments, the technology reduced downtime and allowed for quick commissioning, a necessity given the increasing demand for renewable energy sources globally.
Raphael Henkel, Regional Manager of Sungrow for Sweden and Finland, noted the project as a benchmark.
“This successful completion highlights the growing demand for integrated PV and ESS solutions. Our commitment to innovative technology fosters grid stability and promotes the renewable energy agenda,” he said.
Shaping a Greener Future
As Sweden navigates its energy landscape towards greener alternatives, this project symbolizes a shift towards sustainable practices in electricity generation. With the hybrid solar park now operational, it sets a precedent for future renewable energy endeavors in the region.
Sungrow, renowned globally for its renewable energy technology leadership, has been advancing sustainable power solutions for over 28 years. With a record of 740 GW power electronic converters installed worldwide and recognized as the top company for PV inverter shipments, Sungrow continues to innovate within the realm of renewable energies.
