This initiative comes just in time for International Firefighters' Day on May 4th, 2025. Vicky O'Sullivan, the CEO of Eye Associates of North Florida, emphasizes the critical nature of vision for those who work in high-pressure situations, “We see firsthand how much vision can impact someone's daily life—especially for first responders who rely on their sight in critical situations. To participate, you can either nominate a qualified individual or enter yourself if you are among the eligible first responders. The nomination process is straightforward; you simply need to submit a brief essay outlining why the nominee deserves to win this life-changing procedure.
