Celebrating 25 Years with Summer Delight: Premium Matcha Parfait and Zenzai
In a nod to its quarter-century mark,
nana's green tea, a renowned café chain specializing in matcha and Japanese tea, is set to launch two delightful summer offerings starting June 30, 2026. These treats—
Premium Matcha Parfait and
Chilled Matcha Zenzai—are the result of a cherished partnership with
Yamasa Koyamagen, a traditional tea vendor based in Uji, Kyoto, which has been with the company since its inception.
Premium Matcha Parfait: A Sweet Tribute
The Premium Matcha Parfait celebrates nana's green tea's deep-rooted expertise in matcha, featuring three exceptional types of matcha sourced from Yamasa Koyamagen. This parfait is meticulously crafted to showcase the rich sweetness and refreshing bitterness inherent in high-quality matcha. The combination of flavors and textures is designed to evolve as you savor each layer.
Components of the Parfait
1.
Matcha Sauce (Yomono Aroma): This luxurious sauce is made from top-grade matcha, traditionally stone-ground. Made to order, it preserves the gentle aroma and natural sweetness of the matcha. Enjoy its pure flavor first, then add the sauce to enhance the overall depth of the parfait's taste.
2.
Matcha Powder and Matcha Whipped Cream: Using an original blend tailored for the café's signature hot matcha latte, this topping offers a robust flavor and creamy texture. With each bite, the refreshing bitterness of the matcha shines through, complemented by the lightness of the whipped cream.
3.
Matcha Jelly and Ice Cream: Specially formulated to maintain the matcha’s distinct flavor even when cold, this smooth ice cream and a unique jelly crafted for this parfait offer a delightful chewy texture, blending seamlessly with the matcha essence.
Textural Harmony
Adding various textures, the parfait also features Hokkaido adzuki beans, shiratama (sweet rice dumplings), and crunchy cookies, all enhanced with a drizzle of black syrup. This carefully balanced mix ensures that each spoonful remains exciting until the very last bite.
This Premium Matcha Parfait is not just a dessert; it embodies 25 years of dedication to matcha, thoughtfully designed with input from Yamasa Koyamagen.
Chilled Matcha Zenzai: An Interactive Dessert Experience
In contrast, the Chilled Matcha Zenzai allows customers to engage creatively with their dessert. Each order comes with a separate serving of freshly whisked matcha (Yomono Aroma), allowing patrons to experience the evolving aroma and flavor as they combine the matcha with the other ingredients.
1.
Matcha (Yomono Aroma): The matcha served separately is meticulously prepared to unleash its delicate fragrance and sweet flavor. Patrons are encouraged to lift the bowl and inhale before gradually combining it with the zenzai ingredients for an immersive experience.
2.
Matcha Jelly and Ice Cream: Just like in the parfait, the zenzai features matcha jelly, providing that delightful chewiness along with creamy ice cream, balanced to enhance the matcha’s natural flavors.
Ingredients That Elevate Matcha
This dessert includes original sweet red bean paste, adzuki beans from Hokkaido, and shiratama, all of which complement the matcha while offering varied textures and tastes.
