New Fire Safety Training Facility Completed

CTA Construction Managers has recently finalized the construction of a modern Fire Safety Training Building in Taunton, Massachusetts, marking an important addition to the Taunton Public Safety Complex. This project represents a significant step forward in the City’s commitment to enhancing public safety infrastructure, ensuring that local firefighters are equipped with the best training tools available.

The newly developed training facility, designed by Caolo Bieniek Associates, is a pivotal component of the Public Safety Complex, which also includes other essential structures to serve the community. The Fire Safety Training Building offers a sophisticated training environment that allows firefighters to engage in realistic fire and rescue simulations safely. This facility supports a range of activities, including climbing, rappelling, and various hands-on emergency response exercises. The goal is to ensure that Taunton’s first responders remain well-trained and prepared to face the challenges of modern firefighting and rescue operations.

Patrick Dello Russo, the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Taunton, stated, “This new training facility gives Taunton firefighters the tools they need to sharpen their skills and train for any emergency scenario. We’re proud to see this important component of the new Public Safety Complex come to life.”

The architectural firm responsible for the design, Caolo Bieniek Associates, has an impressive track record in public safety facility design throughout Massachusetts. Their collaboration with CTA was previously demonstrated with the award-winning UMass Police Headquarters, showcasing a strong partnership between the two entities. Jim Hanifan, Vice President of Caolo Bieniek Architects, commented, “Working with CTA Construction again has been a seamless experience. Their attention to detail and coordination in delivering a specialized facility like this ensures that the City of Taunton will have a durable, functional, and safe training environment for years to come.”

Project oversight was provided by the City's Owner's Project Manager, P3. Dan Pallotta, Owner of P3, commended the effort by CTA and the design team, saying, “They have done an excellent job delivering this critical component of the Public Safety Complex. The quality of workmanship and commitment to safety have been exemplary.”

CTA Construction Managers expressed their pride in completing a facility that significantly enhances the City’s public safety capabilities. Pat Tompkins, Principal at CTA Construction Managers, remarked, “We’re honored to play a role in strengthening Taunton's public safety capabilities. This training building is designed to give firefighters a realistic, safe environment to practice the lifesaving skills that protect our communities every day. It’s rewarding to know our work helps provide that foundation.”

Mayor Shaunna O'Connell emphasized the importance of the new training facility, stating, “This new Fire Safety Training Building represents another major step forward in our commitment to keeping Taunton safe. Our firefighters risk their lives every day to protect our community, and they deserve the best tools and training available. This facility ensures they can prepare for any emergency in a safe, realistic environment—strengthening both their skills and our City's overall emergency readiness.”

As part of a wider initiative, the Fire Safety Training Building is one of several structures being developed to form a state-of-the-art, energy-efficient complex that integrates police and fire operations. With a total construction portfolio exceeding $2.0 billion, CTA Construction Managers is recognized as a leader in the green building movement, making efforts to assist clients in constructing sustainable buildings that meet LEED and MA-CHPS standards. Founded in 2000, the firm has awarded more than $150 million in contracts to small, veteran, disadvantaged, minority, and women-owned businesses.
