SANY Group's Rural Revitalization Project Recognized as 2024 Best Practice

Introduction

The SANY Group has recently garnered significant recognition for its innovative project aimed at revitalizing rural areas, specifically in Daotong village, located in Lianyuan City, Hunan Province, China. The project has been awarded the title of "2024 Best Practice Case" by the China Association of Public Companies. This initiative not only focuses on economic improvement but emphasizes sustainable development through various interlinked strategies.

Key Elements of the Project

Integrated Smart Elder Care

Central to the project is the establishment of a comprehensive elder care system, adapted for Daotong, where approximately 21% of the population consists of senior citizens. The initiative employs advanced health technology, alongside the expertise of social workers and professional caregivers, to provide top-notch services. A health center now operates as a hub for health management, daily care, and cultural activities, serving around 12,500 visitors yearly. With 631 digital health profiles established, personalized care has become a reality for residents, ensuring their health needs are met effectively. Additionally, renovations were conducted on 17 low-income households to enhance living conditions, bolstered by emergency technologies providing safety and security for elder residents. The initiative's sustainability is further reinforced by a standardized operations handbook, setting a benchmark for replication in other regions.

Green Infrastructure

The project involves significant upgrades to Daotong's infrastructure. Initiatives implemented include the renewal of drinking water systems and the restoration of the Longtang Lake ecosystem, ensuring compliance with WHO water standards. An innovative solar-powered streetlight network made up of 530 units alone reduces CO2 emissions by 42 tons annually while illuminating all primary roads. Moreover, the Daotong Micro-Fund empowers local governance, financing the modernization of eight public facilities, and promoting a model of co-design, co-management, and co-use, fostering community engagement and sustainable usage of resources.

Eco-Agriculture

Revitalization efforts also extended to agriculture where 158 hectares of previously barren land were transformed through chemical-free farming methods. This initiative created 64 new jobs and enabled over 40 impoverished households to achieve stable income. The launch of premium products such as multicolored brown rice and Light Snow strawberries into broader markets has significantly increased agricultural value and the economic potential of local farmers.

Cultural and Educational Revival

Education and cultural initiatives are also cornerstones of this project. The Daotong Academy, alongside its volunteer network, forms a matrix for cultural revival, conducting 110 training sessions on smart-farming techniques and nature-related education, benefitting 1,057 villagers. The dedicated volunteer team contributes over 3,000 service hours annually. Community events such as the Farmers’ Harvest Festival draw significant participation, promoting community solidarity and the creation of a unique rural cultural identity.

Conclusion

The SANY Foundation and SANY Heavy Industry operate under the ethos of "providing scientific knowledge for the greater good," focused on data-driven monitoring and professional operations to ensure sustainable outcomes. Recognized as a national elder-friendly model community and awarded in various sustainable development categories, the project is positioned as a meaningful initiative for rural revitalization in Hunan Province. SANY Group's ongoing commitment aims at deepening integrated rural development efforts, aspiring to create a globally replicable model that nurtures sustainable development, showcasing Chinese wisdom and the innovative “SANY Solution” globally.
