TMEIC's New Photovoltaic Inverter Manufacturing Facility in Texas
TMEIC Corporation Americas, a prominent name in renewable energy technology and a subsidiary of Japan-based TMEIC Corporation, has proudly announced the commencement of full operations at its latest photovoltaic (PV) inverter manufacturing facility located in Waller County, Texas. Officially opened with a grand ceremony in mid-November 2024, this state-of-the-art plant highlights both the company's commitment to renewable energy and its focus on enhancing local manufacturing capabilities.
The new Westport facility spans an impressive 144,000 square feet and initiated production of utility-scale PV inverters in November 2024. By February 5, 2025, the factory had exceeded production expectations, manufacturing over 300 PV inverters in just a few months, reinforcing TMEIC's strategic goal to advance U.S.-based manufacturing in the renewable energy sector.
During the grand opening ceremony, senior executives from TMEIC, alongside important clients, partners, and local government officials, gathered to celebrate this significant expansion. The event featured guided tours of the facility, demonstrations of the inverters in action, and in-depth discussions about TMEIC’s ongoing commitment to local manufacturing and renewable energy investments. This milestone event underscored the plant's essential role in supporting TMEIC's vision of clean energy advancement and consolidating its position in the ever-evolving global renewable energy market.
According to Manmeet S. Bhatia, President and CEO of TMEIC Corporation Americas, "We are thrilled to see the Westport facility fully operational and producing high-quality PV inverters that will significantly contribute to the transition towards clean, sustainable energy in North America. The opening of this factory stands as a cornerstone of our strategy to bolster our manufacturing presence in the U.S., and it enables us to meet the rising demand for renewable energy solutions seamlessly."
TMEIC's expansion aligns with a broader industry trend towards increased localized manufacturing, driven by the accelerating demand for sustainable energy solutions. The newly established workforce, which has undergone extensive training, ensures that production standards meet the high expectations set by clients. Furthermore, this initiative not only enhances production capacity but also stimulates local employment and economic growth in the nearby areas.
Waller County has actively supported this investment, fostering a business-friendly environment that has facilitated the growth of a dynamic local manufacturing ecosystem. Recently, the county approved a tax abatement for the project, which bodes well for future expansions and innovations planned for the facility.
In the upcoming phases, TMEIC is looking to implement significant upgrades to further optimize production and foster innovative technologies. These advancements will reinforce TMEIC's role as a leading player within the renewable energy landscape, a commitment that is integral to the company’s operations and ethos.
TMEIC remains dedicated to driving innovation and technological excellence while supporting the transition to renewable energy sources. The company offers a range of products, including advanced automation, large AC and DC motors, and other renewable energy solutions, all designed to support sustainable practices across various industrial sectors.
