Jadavpur University Alumni Association to Host the 16th National Conference



On March 22, 2025, the Mumbai Chapter of the Jadavpur University Alumni Association (JUAA) will proudly present its 16th National Conference, entitled 'India @2030: Energy, Economy, Employment.' This highly anticipated event aims to unite thought leaders from various sectors, including academia, business, and economics, to tackle pressing issues affecting India's future development.

Event Highlights


This day-long symposium will feature prominent speakers such as Debashis Chatterjee, the CEO and Managing Director of LTIMindtree and an esteemed alumnus of Jadavpur University, who will serve as the Chief Guest. The keynote address will be delivered by Pankaj Kumar, the Director of Production at ONGC, India's largest oil and gas entity. The agenda includes three engaging panels that will delve into the complex interrelations between energy, economy, and employment. Through this conference, attendees can expect to gain insights from distinguished voices across India and explore innovative approaches to drive progress.

More than 200 participants are anticipated, comprising Jadavpur University alumni, academicians, policymakers, and industry leaders. Dibyendu Chakraborty, Chairman of the Conference Committee, emphasized the urgency of the topics at hand. "In order to strengthen our economic foundation, we must generate job opportunities, especially for the youth," he remarked. The relationship between economic growth and energy demand is central to the discussions planned for this year’s event, as India positions itself for a significant role on the global stage by 2030.

The conference is bolstered by generous contributions from various organizations nationwide, including ONGC Ltd., Adani Welspun Exploration Limited, and others. Rudranath Banerjee, President of the Mumbai Alumni Association, expressed gratitude towards these donors for their support, stating, "Their kindness enables us to continue our educational welfare initiatives for deserving yet underprivileged students in Mumbai and Kolkata. We have initiated numerous scholarships and assistance programs through our trust since 1980." Over the years, the trust has allocated over ₹70 lakhs towards educational endeavors, reflecting its unwavering commitment to fostering educational opportunities.

Founded in 1956, the Mumbai Branch of the N.C.E Bengal and Jadavpur University Alumni Association has established itself as a vital platform for alumni to engage, share knowledge, and participate in charitable activities aimed at societal benefit. With more than 350 active members contributing across various fields, this branch actively represents diverse industries, professional organizations, and government bodies.

Jadavpur University, with its rich history tracing back to the National Council of Education established in 1906, is recognized as one of India’s leading public research institutions. Its dedication to academic excellence and progressive educational values has cemented its reputation as a top-tier university, continuously ranking among the finest in the nation.

The roots of the alumni association date back to 1921, culminating in its centennial anniversary in 2021, marking a significant milestone in its legacy.
