Significant Increase in Generative AI Usage Among US Households Reported by Parks Associates
Significant Growth in Generative AI Usage in the United States
According to new research conducted by Parks Associates, a leading market research firm, a remarkable 63% of internet households in the United States are now employing generative AI tools. This figure shows a substantial increase from the previous year, where the rate stood at 51%. This trend marks a growing acceptance and reliance on AI technologies amongst consumers, highlighting a significant shift in digital engagement.
In particular, paid users of these AI tools report notably higher Net Promoter Scores (NPS) compared to those using free versions. For instance, tools such as DeepSeek, Grammarly, and Perplexity have shown impressive user satisfaction, with DeepSeek leading the pack at an NPS of 59. In contrast, the free versions of these tools received fairly low scores, demonstrating that users see greater value in premium offerings.
Currently, 22% of households in the US are paying for access to AI-powered services. The data indicates that consumers are more inclined to invest in AI when it provides clear productivity enhancements or specialized features that improve their experience.
