F-Pico and Toyosuki Announce Eco-Store Collaborative Declaration
In a remarkable joint effort towards sustainability, F-Pico, headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, and Toyosuki, a supermarket business based in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, have officially announced their "Eco-Store Collaborative Declaration." This initiative signifies a commitment to creating a sustainable, circular society by implementing innovative recycling measures across all 11 of Toyosuki's stores.
Continuing Recycling Efforts: Resource Recovery and Practical Application of Store-to-Store Model
Both F-Pico and Toyosuki share a common goal: to establish their stores as eco-leaders within their respective communities. To achieve this, they have set up collection boxes in Toyosuki stores for customers to donate used food trays and transparent containers. These collected materials are sent to F-Pico’s recycling facilities, where they are processed into eco-friendly products such as the “Eco Tray.” This approach, termed “Store-to-Store” horizontal recycling, allows the repurposing of these eco-products for use in Toyosuki’s own retail environment.
New Initiatives Strengthened by the Declaration: Expanding Eco-Product Use and Educational Activities
This collaborative declaration not only affirms ongoing practices but also sets the stage for new initiatives aimed at further enhancing their horizontal recycling efforts. The following strategies will be launched:
1.
Expansion of Eco-Product Usage
To minimize environmental impact, both companies will increase the assortment of eco-products used in stores, encouraging customers to select sustainable options.
2.
Environmental Education for Children
Engaging the next generation, F-Pico and Toyosuki plan to introduce recycling education sessions at local elementary schools. This initiative will cultivate understanding and participation in recycling among children, extending its influence to their families and, ultimately, to the broader community.
3.
In-store Environmental Awareness Campaigns
To bolster customer participation, both retailers will install environmental posters and employ digital signage in all stores, delivering visual messaging about the importance of recycling.
Through these reinforced activities, both companies aim to achieve a collection target of 2.4 tons of food trays and a reduction of 80 tons in CO2 emissions by the end of the fiscal year concluding in January 2027.
F-Pico and Toyosuki are dedicated to promoting the recycling of community resources, working alongside local residents to realize a sustainable society for future generations.
