Kia America Achieves Record-Breaking Annual Sales for the Second Consecutive Year
Kia America has celebrated a monumental achievement in its history, recording the highest annual sales for the second consecutive year. In December alone, Kia sold 73,303 vehicles, setting a new record for the month. Overall, the automotive manufacturer reached an impressive total of 796,488 units sold in 2024. This accomplishment not only underscores the brand's strength in the competitive automotive sector but also reflects Kia's ongoing commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
The success in 2024 was driven by robust sales in the retail sector, which have increased steadily for seven consecutive years. Notably, six specific models achieved record sales, showcasing Kia's diverse range of offerings. The EV9 saw an astonishing growth of 1,869% in sales, while the Sportage and Carnival models followed with increases of 15% and 14%, respectively. Additionally, the Forte/K4, EV6, and Telluride recorded steady rises as well, reflecting the brand's appealing lineup.
A significant highlight for Kia this year was the surge in electric vehicle (EV) sales, which increased by an impressive 74% compared to the previous year, making up 7% of the total vehicle sales. SUVs have proven to be a major player for Kia, with a whopping 76% of annual sales attributed to their SUV models, representing an 8% growth from last year.
Seungkyu (Sean) Yoon, President and CEO of Kia North America, expressed pride in the company’s achievements. He stated, "Achieving consecutive annual sales records, in conjunction with maintaining strong retail sales over the past seven years, is a validation that our strategy is effective in elevating the Kia brand and sustaining growth in the U.S. market." Yoon attributed much of this success to the introduction of Kia's flagship SUV, the EV9, along with the introduction of the hybrid system in the Carnival, enhancing the brand's adaptability to evolving consumer demands.
In addition to its impressive sales performance, Kia America announced the official launch of the 2025 compact sedan, the Kia K4. The Kia Telluride has continued to receive accolades, being named one of the top 10 trucks and SUVs of 2025 by Car and Driver. This recognition marks the Telluride's sixth consecutive year on this prestigious list, demonstrating its ongoing appeal in the market.
The Telluride also secured the top spot in the J.D. Power 2025 U.S. ALG Residual Value Awards for mid-size SUVs with three rows of seating for the fourth consecutive year, further solidifying its reputation for durability and brand appeal.
Furthermore, Kia's fully electric three-row SUV, the EV9, was recognized at the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) annual Truck Rodeo, winning the "Texas Electric SUV of the Year 2024-2025" award. The Kia Sorento and Sorento Hybrid were among the Hispanic Motor Press's picks for the best vehicles for Hispanics in 2025, with the EV9 winning the title of "Best Electric Vehicle of the Year" and the Sorento taking home the award for "Best SUV of the Year."
