Envision Energy and Kallista Energy Launch Innovative 386 MWh Storage Project in France
On July 28, 2026, in Paris, Envision Energy, a leading player in green technologies, announced an enhanced collaboration with European renewable energy producer Kallista Energy. Together, they are embarking on an energy storage project located in Neuilly-en-Thelle, Hauts-de-France, which boasts a capacity of 193 MW / 386 MWh. The construction of this innovative Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) commenced in early July 2026, with an anticipated operational date scheduled before spring 2028.
This project builds upon Envision Energy's initial BESS venture in France, the Saleux project, which began construction in 2025. The Neuilly-en-Thelle project signifies a crucial development in the partnership between these two companies and paves the way for scalable energy storage solutions throughout Europe. The initiative aims to propel the future energy system in the region.
Envision Energy will be responsible for deploying its advanced BESS technology, managing the full project lifecycle from site maintenance to battery recycling after a projected 25-year operational span. The project utilizes lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells from Envision AESC, supported by the company’s 10 GWh gigafactory in Hauts-de-France, which has been operational since June 2025. This integration of local battery manufacturing with system installation aims to bolster regional industrial capacity and enhance the resilience of energy infrastructures.
Once operational, this energy storage system will deliver essential flexibility services to the French grid, including frequency regulation through the RTE reserve markets. The system is expected to be capable of meeting the daily energy needs of approximately 30,000 households, thereby improving grid stability, enabling better integration of renewable energy sources, and supporting the ongoing electrification efforts in France.
