Delta Community Credit Union Launches Annual Scholarship Program
In a committed effort to support education, Delta Community Credit Union, Georgia's largest credit union, is thrilled to announce its 20th Annual College Scholarship Program. Starting February 1, 2025, the credit union will begin accepting applications for five scholarships, each worth $5,000, aimed at assisting students with their college expenses.
A Focus on Academic Excellence and Community Involvement
The selection of scholarship recipients will be based on several criteria, including academic achievements and community engagement. Each applicant is required to submit a personal essay that demonstrates their understanding of financial management as taught in Delta Community's Financial Education Center BalanceTrack modules, specifically "Money Management" and "Credit Matters."
The essay prompt poses a significant question: "How will you apply the insights gained from these modules to positively shape your financial future?" This inquiry encourages students to think critically about essential financial concepts and their relevance in real-world situations.
Delta Community's CEO, Hank Halter, emphasized the importance of the program: "For two decades, our College Scholarship Program has enabled us to invest in dedicated, civic-minded students so they can pursue worthwhile careers and further position themselves as a positive force in their local communities." This initiative not only supports students financially but also equips them with the knowledge necessary for making informed financial decisions.
Eligibility Criteria and Important Dates
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be members of Delta Community seeking their first undergraduate degree and must be enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university in the U.S. during the fall semester of 2025-2026. The complete scholarship application needs to be submitted online by March 1, 2025, 5 p.m. ET. Award recipients will be announced in early April.
In addition to its annual scholarship program, Delta Community Credit Union also provides scholarships for students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and offers free financial education classes across metro Atlanta, further demonstrating its commitment to community empowerment and education.
