Real-Time Rainwater Management System (Blitz GIS) in Vietnam
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has approved a demonstration project utilizing the Real-Time Rainwater Management System (Blitz GIS) as part of the WOW TO JAPAN initiative. This project is a collaboration between Nissui Consulting Co., Ltd., based in Shinjuku, Tokyo, and the Kitakyushu City Waterworks Bureau, overseen by Bureau Director Tadaaki Hironaka.
Overview of the Project
Smart Rainwater Management Technology
The project aims to leverage smart technologies for rainwater management in response to worsening flooding issues in Vietnam, particularly in the city of Hai Phong. The demonstration will showcase the effectiveness of the Blitz GIS system, which collects rainfall data and monitors water levels within manholes, providing real-time data and alerts for critical water levels. This approach aims to enhance proactive water management strategies, identify flooding causes, and generate effective infrastructure solutions.
Execution Details
The demonstration project will be conducted in Hai Phong, Vietnam, a city grappling with increasing urbanization and climate change impacts. Through the implementation of Blitz GIS, the initiative seeks to improve real-time monitoring of rainfall events and flood scenarios.
Background of the Initiative
Nissui Consulting is a member of the Kitakyushu Overseas Water Business Promotion Council (KOWBA), under which the project was proposed to the Kitakyushu City Waterworks Bureau. The city has maintained a cooperative relationship with Hai Phong since 2010, providing technical assistance in waste treatment operations and flood management training.
Roles in the Project
Nissui Consulting will handle the installation and operational management of the system in the local area while promoting its adoption throughout major cities in Vietnam. The Kitakyushu City Waterworks Bureau will utilize the compiled data to enhance flood management activities and develop training programs for local personnel.
Imagining Smart Rainwater Management
The WOW TO JAPAN project aims to promote Japanese sewerage technology overseas by aligning with international needs through verification trials. By participating in this demonstration project, Nissui Consulting is committed to expanding its technical expertise abroad, contributing to the realization of a sustainable future society filled with abundance.
