Karsan Aims for Top 5 in Europe with Innovative Products and High-Tech Solutions in Public Transport
Karsan's Ambitious Vision for the Future of Public Transport in Europe
Karsan, a leading global brand in the field of technology-driven public transport, has announced significant growth figures for 2025. With a remarkable 11% increase in revenue, now standing at 330 million euros, the company credits its success largely to its electric vehicle sales, which reached 220 million euros. Karsan's robust export activities have also flourished, achieving a stellar 43% rise to hit 197 million euros.
In a strategic move to bolster its presence in the European market, Karsan plans to launch autonomous public transportation operations in 2026. According to CEO Okan Baş, their flagship models, the e-JEST and e-ATAK, continue to thrive, affirming their leadership in their respective segments within the European public transport landscape. Baş stated, “Turkey serves as Europe’s production hub for bus manufacturing, with Karsan accounting for a remarkable 80% of the intermediate and electric bus exports to Europe from 2019 to 2025.”
Karsan has set a bold target to rank among the top five players in Europe within the next five years. “Our current presence in existing markets is not enough to achieve this goal,” Baş explained. Therefore, the company is gearing up to explore new markets, particularly in Northern Europe. Currently absent from the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Germany, Karsan plans to establish organizational structures in these regions. Additionally, it aims to strengthen its foothold in Spain and Poland, markets it entered last year. The company’s objective is to increase its fleet of electric vehicles in Europe to over 2,800 units, signifying a growth of over 30%.
Autonomous mobility stands as one of Karsan's critical strategic focuses. The company intends to prioritize the European market with its 8-meter e-ATAK autonomous vehicle and the 6-meter e-JEST model in America. In its pursuit toward autonomous mobility, Karsan is investigating the feasibility of operating driverless vehicles, aspiring to initiate new driverless activities in Stavanger by the third quarter of 2026. By the end of 2026, Karsan also aims to introduce another electric vehicle to further enhance its product range.
Continuous expansion is imperative for Karsan as it strives to enhance its global presence through product diversification and accelerated technological advancements. "Our success story is not just about numbers, but about the impact we make in global public transportation," emphasized Baş.
Karsan has significantly contributed to the transformation of public transport worldwide, consistently demonstrating its commitment through a versatile fleet spread across 27 countries. By adding more than 2,100 electric vehicles to the public transport industry, Karsan is determined to set higher goals for 2026.
With the future set in motion, Karsan plans to capitalize on its innovative offerings to reshape public transport dynamics. The company has outlined an ambitious roadmap that combines sustainable practices with cutting-edge technology to yield efficient and eco-friendly transport solutions. As Karsan forges ahead, its innovations in electric and autonomous vehicles will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in delivering smart urban mobility solutions, not just in Europe but across the globe.
This forward-thinking approach reflects Karsan’s vision to remain at the forefront of the mobility industry for years to come, ensuring that it not only keeps pace with global trends but also sets the benchmark for sustainable transport solutions worldwide.
