POWERCHINA Drives Green Energy Transition Across Europe and Central Asia

In the face of escalating global climate pressures, Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA) is spearheading a transformation towards a resilient and low-carbon energy system. Through various initiatives across Europe and Central Asia, the company has committed to supporting local regions grappling with severe droughts and extreme temperatures by implementing clean energy projects.

One of the cornerstone projects is a solar photovoltaic power plant in collaboration with Viroque Energy in San Roque, Cádiz. This facility, boasting a capacity of 44 megawatts, is designed to produce approximately 95,000 megawatt-hours of clean electricity annually. Once operational, it promises to significantly advance local energy development with a focus on reducing carbon emissions.

Additionally, the Ulog hydropower station in Bosnia and Herzegovina has officially commenced commercial operations. With an installed capacity of 35.14 megawatts, this project not only aims to enhance energy generation but also to provide ecological water supply solutions. The construction features a double-curvature arch concrete dam and a flow ecological power station, which could greatly improve the reliability of local electricity supply while facilitating regional ecological conditions.

On a substantial front, POWERCHINA is also leading the first industrial-scale green hydrogen project in Central Asia, recently initiated in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This pioneering venture, which aligns with Uzbekistan's Green Energy Strategy, has yielded successful production of high-purity hydrogen. The plant is equipped with cutting-edge ALK electrolysis technology capable of generating 3,150 tons of green hydrogen annually, thereby significantly curbing approximately 30,000 tons of CO2 emissions compared to traditional grey hydrogen production methods.

Mohammad Abunayyan, chairman of ACWA Power, commended the project's achievement, referring to it as a significant milestone in the industry. He applauded the successful international cooperation that has been instrumental in advancing clean energy initiatives, while also acknowledging the challenges that have been overcome throughout the development process.

As the world grapples with unprecedented environmental challenges, POWERCHINA is steadfast in its commitment to fostering a global transition toward clean energy. This commitment is not just theoretical but translates into tangible, scalable results that aim to make a real difference in combating climate change.
