TCL SunPower Global Joins Solar Stewardship Initiative for Sustainable Development in Solar Energy

TCL SunPower Global Joins Solar Stewardship Initiative

TCL SunPower Global, a leader in innovative solar energy solutions, has officially joined the Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI), a global program aimed at enhancing transparency, responsibility, and sustainability within the solar industry's supply chain. This significant decision underscores the company’s dedication to promoting an equitable and inclusive energy transition while aligning with international ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards.

This initiative represents a long-term vision to ensure ethical sourcing and responsible manufacturing processes, continuously improving operations to provide sustainable energy solutions. With this membership, TCL SunPower Global commits to undergoing ESG assessments and traceability evaluations within the next twelve months, covering at least two production sites assessed by an ISS-accredited evaluation body in accordance with ISS's ESG standards.

The importance of adhering to ESG standards is particularly evident in the rapidly growing solar photovoltaic industry, which offers a swift route to decarbonization while shielding citizens and businesses from volatile energy prices. TCL SunPower Global’s participation in the SSI serves as a testament to its commitment to instigating meaningful change and fostering trust in how solar products are sourced and manufactured.

Karin Alberto-Burkhardt, Product Director at TCL SunPower Global, remarked, “Sustainability is not just a responsibility; it is a strategic priority. Our participation in the SSI signifies a critical milestone in our mission to lead with integrity, transparency, and determination.” Furthermore, Steven Zhang, CEO of TCL SunPower Global, emphasized, “By joining the Solar Stewardship Initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to building a solar industry that is not only innovative and efficient but also ethical and sustainable. We believe that collaboration across the supply chain is essential for driving significant change and establishing trust.”

TCL SunPower Global is currently participating in the Solar Storage Live UK event in Birmingham from September 23 to 25, at booth C66. Attendees are encouraged to visit their booth to learn more about their latest solar panel offerings and energy storage solutions, as well as their commitment to the Solar Stewardship Initiative.
