HomeWAV Enhances Mental Health Initiatives for Incarcerated Individuals This Mental Health Awareness Month

HomeWAV's Commitment to Mental Health Awarness

During Mental Health Awareness Month, HomeWAV, a leader in inmate communication and technology solutions, is strengthening its mission to enhance mental health and reentry resources for incarcerated individuals across the United States. Through its collaboration with Edovo, HomeWAV is integrating educational and rehabilitation resources into their technology-driven platform, enabling facilities to deliver vital support directly to users via secure ComPAS® tablets.

Addressing Mental Health Challenges

Research indicates that incarceration can exacerbate pre-existing mental health issues, particularly when individuals are isolated from their loved ones and have limited access to mental health programming. HomeWAV's initiative caters to these challenges by offering tablets that are designed to provide not only communication tools but also a range of educational and self-help resources. These tools help users manage stress, develop coping mechanisms, and prepare for successful reentry into society.

The platform allows individuals to maintain connections through voice and video calls along with messaging capabilities, which have shown to mitigate anxiety and depression during incarceration. “During Mental Health Awareness Month, we are reminded that access to support, education, and connection can profoundly impact someone’s life,” says Morteza Sahebkar, CEO of HomeWAV. “We believe in the greater purpose of technology. By providing tools that enhance communication and expand access to rehabilitative programs, we strive to create environments focused on well-being and personal growth.”

Significant Improvements Through Technology

Since the implementation of Edovo's programs on HomeWAV devices in August 2025, more than 10,000 incarcerated individuals have accessed mental health content. They have engaged in 50,000 hours of programming focused on emotional well-being and personal development. The partnership provides access to over 35,000 hours of free content, including evidence-based courses on emotions, substance recovery, and personal growth.

For many individuals, this engagement has been transformative. Brandon, an inmate from Illinois, remarked, “This course was something I needed. I learned positive ways to deal with my behavior and how to think through my decisions.” Jaylon from Missouri expressed, “This course really made me happy. I feel like I understand gratitude, hope, and how to manage my stress better.”

Moreover, Thomas, an inmate from North Dakota, mentioned, “I always thought healing would be impossible. Seeing other men's journeys has inspired me and given me hope for my future.”

Facility leaders are also appreciating the change brought on by the introduction of these tablets. Sgt. John Weeks from Washington County, Florida stated, “Tablets provide more than just entertainment; they're a vital resource for maintaining a positive mental outlook. The programs available enrich individuals in multiple ways, contributing significantly to their overall mental health.”
