Delta Celebrates 55 Years of Leadership in Energy Efficiency with Keynote from Dr. Amory Lovins

Delta Celebrates 55 Years of Sustainability Leadership

On March 16, 2026, Delta Electronics proudly marked its 55th anniversary by hosting a forward-thinking forum entitled "Energy's New Frontier: From Buildings to AI - A Holistic Evolution of Resilience and Efficiency." This event was organized in collaboration with the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability's Precourt Institute for Energy. The forum showcased Delta's commitment to sustainability as a core aspect of its business strategy, reflecting the company's evolution over more than five decades.

The highlight of the forum was a keynote address delivered by the esteemed Dr. Amory Lovins, co-founder of the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) and a globally recognized expert in energy efficiency. Dr. Lovins emphasized the transformative shift occurring in the energy sector—moving from fossil fuels to renewable sources, from centralized to decentralized energy systems, and from wasteful energy practices to more efficient methods.

In his speech, Dr. Lovins illustrated practical examples of Integrative Design, demonstrating how a comprehensive and system-wide perspective can vastly improve energy efficiency across various domains, including buildings, factories, and data centers. He noted, "Global energy efficiency roughly doubled from Neolithic times to 1820, and tripled again thereafter. Now, we have the potential to double energy efficiency once more using traditional techniques and even triple it further by applying integrative design. These methods present tremendous opportunities for enhancing economic stability and energy security, particularly for Taiwan."

Delta's founder, Bruce Cheng, highlighted the influence Dr. Lovins has had on the company's sustainability direction. Cheng recounted visiting exceptional green buildings in Thailand and Germany over twenty years ago, inspired by Lovins's book Natural Capitalism, which details the energy-saving capabilities of green architecture. This experience ignited Delta's long-standing commitment to green building initiatives, which have successfully led to the development of 36 green buildings worldwide by 2026.

Ping Cheng, currently Delta's Chairman and CEO, further elaborated on the company's sustainability mission. He stated, "Delta's goal is to deliver innovative, clean, and energy-efficient solutions that foster a better tomorrow. Our approach to enhancing energy efficiency not only supports corporate growth but also illustrates the harmony possible between profitability and sustainable practice. Since our peak carbon emissions in 2017, we have persistently lowered our emissions year after year while maintaining revenue growth, demonstrating our ability to dissociate business success from carbon output."

During the event, Dr. Lovins participated in a panel discussion alongside Delta's executive leaders, where they exchanged insights on numerous topics, including green buildings and the efficiency of data centers. Together, they examined collaborative approaches with industry and educational institutions to further advance solutions critical to global energy transformation amidst the challenges presented by the AI era.

Dr. Amory Lovins has spent over 50 years at the forefront of the renewable energy movement, advising numerous governments and corporations across 70 countries. His pioneering ideas have revolutionized energy policy and discourse worldwide, making him a vital voice in the ongoing adaptation to new energy paradigms.

As a global leader founded in 1971, Delta, listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (stock code 2308), has embraced a mission focused on providing advanced power and thermal management solutions. The company champions innovative IoT-based smart energy-saving solutions in diverse fields, including data center infrastructure and sustainable manufacturing. Delta's longstanding emphasis on corporate responsibility and environmental sustainability has earned it numerous awards and accolades, solidifying its reputation as a leader in the energy sector.
