Neha Bhat's Inspiring Journey from Rutgers to Goldman Sachs Internship
An Inspiring Journey of Neha Bhat
Neha Bhat recently graduated from Rutgers Business School, and her journey is one of determination and ambition. Known for her unique mix of marketing, business analytics, and psychology, she embraced every opportunity provided by her professors and the career management office to build a successful career.
Bhat's passion for marketing stems from its unique ability to connect with individuals on both local and global levels. Having double majored in marketing and business analytics while minoring in psychology, she was driven not just by the desire to excel academically, but also by a deep commitment to understanding consumer behavior, which she believes is critical for success in the marketing field.
Upon selecting her major, Bhat was drawn to the formidable faculty at Rutgers. “Goldman Sachs attracts some of the most talented people in the industry,” she commented, expressing her desire to work with such passionate individuals. She wanted to gain firsthand experience in a high-caliber environment that would help her grow.
Bhat's academic journey at Rutgers wasn't just about attending classes; she actively sought experiences that could enrich her understanding of business. To this end, she took advantage of the university’s access to diverse courses and real-world applications. She indicated that her psychology classes helped her appreciate the reasoning behind individual choices, an asset she considers essential in her field of marketing.
Making the decision to study at Rutgers was strategic for Bhat, as she emphasized the strength of the school's global network. Having moved from India to the United States at the age of 11, she quickly learned the importance of adaptability and networking. “ Rutgers alumni are scattered throughout the world. To be associated with such a respected institution created a sense of security and opportunity for me,” she reflected.
Recognizing the significant role internships play in career advancement, Bhat took her professors' suggestions seriously and became active on LinkedIn. Thanks to the Rutgers Business School Office of Career Management, she refined her skills, leading her to secure internships at notable companies. In 2023, she interned in business operations and strategy at Bristol Myers Squibb, followed by a coveted position at Goldman Sachs in the summer of 2024. This internship directly led to a full-time employment offer, a testament to her exceptional capabilities.
Bhat’s experiences didn’t stop there. She made significant contributions at Belmont University's Office of Career Management, where she was able to merge her creativity with strategic communication efforts. Additionally, she co-founded a student organization called Rutgers Milana, which focused on promoting South Indian culture on campus.
Her journey wasn't solely about personal achievement; Bhat sought to empower others. While navigating her time at college, she also founded an online initiative called Mental Health United during her junior year of high school. This platform was born out of the need to foster connections and raise awareness about mental health, particularly during challenging periods like the COVID-19 pandemic. Bhat shared her appreciation for the role that social media played in creating a support system for young adults, stemming from her own experiences during isolation.
Her passion and determination caught the attention of Cristina Cushing, a career counselor at Rutgers. “Neha's creativity, leadership, and initiative set her apart as an exemplary role model for her peers,” Cushing remarked.
Bhat’s achievements culminated in her receiving the Dean's Distinguished Leadership Award, recognizing her integral contributions to the Rutgers Business School community. As she graduated on May 15, 2025, her family was filled with pride as they witnessed her walk across the stage, marking a significant milestone not only for Bhat but also for her parents who had never experienced such ceremonies in their home country of India.
Reflecting on her journey, Bhat expressed deep gratitude for her family's sacrifices and her opportunity to pursue higher education. “I hope that my journey can inspire others, especially those who may feel lost or out of place,” she concluded. With her vibrant path ahead, there's no doubt that Neha Bhat will continue to inspire as she steps into her new role at Goldman Sachs.
