Exploring Smart Cycling Innovations at EUROBIKE 2025: A Glimpse into the Future
Innovation Unveiled at EUROBIKE 2025
In an exciting announcement, the Cycling and Health Tech Industry RD Center (CHC) is gearing up for a significant presence at EUROBIKE 2025, which will be held in Frankfurt, Germany. This event will see numerous exhibitors unveiling their latest innovations and products, with a particular focus on advancements in the cycling industry. Supported by the Department of Industrial Technology under Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), this pavilion stands as a beacon of smart cycling technology!
The Common Protocol for Electric Bicycles
A notable highlight from CHC is the introduction of a common protocol for electric bicycles. Establishing the Cycling Common Protocol Alliance in 2024, alongside the Taiwan Bicycle Association (TBA), the CHC aims to create standardized solutions for the electric bicycle sector. This includes electric bikes, handcycles, and electric tricycles, addressing crucial aspects like communication protocols, connectors, power systems, and sensors. This initiative is designed not only to enhance compatibility among electric bike components from different manufacturers but also to attract an increasing number of Taiwanese companies focused on this vibrant market.
The first major product to emerge from this effort is the Interactive Riding Scenario platform's common protocol for electric bicycles, signaling a significant step toward the uniformity of electric bike components. Such standardization is anticipated to lower future development costs and streamline the integration process for complete electric bicycle systems.
Next-Gen E-MTB with Automatic Gear Shifting
In addition to the protocol advancements, the MOEA's R&D Pavilion will also showcase an electric mountain bike (E-MTB) equipped with an automatic gear shifting system. Utilizing Model-Based Design (MBD) technology, this top-tier full-suspension electric bike accelerates the design process and reduces development cycles. The intelligent automatic shifting system integrates with the central transmission, employing smart shifting control algorithms.
This innovative system boasts the ability to switch between manual and automatic modes, effectively managing cadence and power through hold modes, while also allowing riders to configure internal parameters and adjust the assist ratio seamlessly. Riders can expect an optimized, responsive driving experience, thanks to the automatic shifting that responds dynamically to the chosen smart mode and personalized adjustments.
Collaboration Driving Innovation
The cycling industry is in a state of exhilarating evolution, and innovation is the driving force steering it forward. The CHC has been pivotal in spearheading R&D developments in Taiwan, acting as the secretariat for the Bicycle Sustainability Alliance (BAS) and taking crucial steps toward achieving carbon neutrality for Taiwan's cycling industry. Further emphasizing their global outreach, the CHC is dedicated to strengthening international ties and actively seeks collaborations to provide innovative mobility solutions to the worldwide cycling sector.
EUROBIKE 2025 is set to be a landmark event where the future of cycling technology will be front and center. With advancements in smart cycling, electric bicycles, and a pledge towards sustainability, it promises a thrilling glimpse into what lies ahead for cyclists around the globe. Don't miss the opportunity to see these innovations firsthand as the cycling landscape continues to evolve!
