Peace Wanko Japan Hosts Successful 'Wan Dream Garden' Event for Animal Welfare Awareness

Peace Wanko Japan: Paving the Way for a Society That Values Adoptive Pets

Peace Wanko Japan, a non-profit organization dedicated to achieving zero euthanasia of dogs, has been actively working throughout Japan with the goal of increasing awareness for adopting rescue pets. From September 20 to 26, they successfully held the 'WAN DREAM GARDEN - A Happy Way of Life with Rescue Dogs and Cats' event in Omotesando, Tokyo, attracting over 1,200 people. This event celebrated the importance of adopting shelter animals and the joy it can bring to families.

The Mission Behind WAN DREAM GARDEN

Founded by Peace Winds Japan, under the leadership of Kenjou Onishi and based in Hiroshima, Peace Wanko has dedicated itself to connecting abandoned dogs with forever homes. With over 5,100 rescues to date, their tireless effort helps realize a future where living with rescue animals becomes the norm. The multi-faceted event featured adoption opportunities, educational talks, and interactions with beloved pets, aiming to spread the message that shelter animals deserve a chance at a loving family.

During the week-long event, visitors engaged in sessions where they could connect with rescue dogs and cats, including those from various centers across Kanto such as Setagaya and Shonan. A total of 55 animals participated, providing attendees the chance to consider adopting a new furry family member.

Support and Guidance for Potential Pet Owners

Among the 16 families that expressed interest in adoption, Peace Wanko and its affiliated teams emphasized continuous support for prospective pet parents. They are committed to ensuring that the match between the adopter and the animal is caring and responsible, fostering an environment where animals will thrive in their new homes.

Engaging Talks and Conversations

The event also featured engaging discussions led by notable figures. Nakako Yoshida, who drives the 'Riku-Natsu Inclusive Evacuation Project', discussed the importance of including pets in emergency plans. She emphasized the challenges pet owners face during disasters and advocated for more facilities to accommodate both humans and animals during evacuations.

Naomi Ono, a groomer and volunteer, shared her insights on pet care and the commitment required from potential adopters. She encouraged attendees to consider lifelong responsibilities, emphasizing that adopting a pet is a promise to care for them through all of life's stages.

Meanwhile, popular entertainers such as the comedy duo Bambino and performance artist Dorodango shared their anecdotes about rescue pets, helping to raise awareness through their platforms. Their discussions pointed out not only the joys of having rescue animals but also the stark realities many animals face. They urged others to contribute by supporting shelters or through donations, making a case for multiple avenues of assistance beyond just adoption.

The Heartwarming Encounters

Attendee peco shared her heartwarming story about her adopted dog, Allison. Describing the profound joy Allison brings to her life, peco remarked that the experience has transformed her perspective on happiness and companionship. She hopes to use her voice to inspire more adopters to consider the joys of nurturing a rescue animal.

Another attendee, Mari Nishio, shared her experience with her rescue dog, Setsu. Through her journey, she expressed her belief that no animal should endure the hardships of being bought or sold, advocating the importance of promoting adoption as a humane choice.

Looking Ahead: A Compassionate Future

As the event concluded, those in attendance left with a renewed sense of purpose toward supporting the cause of rescue animals. The messages delivered by adopters and team members were clear: a society where every animal finds a loving home is possible if compassion prevails.

With continuance in educating the society about the need for adoption and advocating for animal welfare, Peace Wanko Japan pledges to persist in their mission for a future free from euthanasia for animals, where rescue pets find happiness alongside loving families. They remain determined to foster a culture of joy shared between humans and their four-legged companions.
