Beyond SDGs: Invitation for Logo Design Submissions with Special Jury Member

Invitation for Logo Design Submissions for Beyond SDGs

The Beyond SDGs Public-Private Council has officially announced the launch of a logo design contest beginning October 8. The theme, encapsulated by the slogan "BEYOND! for Beyond SDGs," aims to gather diverse voices and ideas in pursuit of a brighter, sustainable future. The council is also pleased to introduce Katsuhiro Hibino, the president of Tokyo University of the Arts, as a special jury member for this initiative.

Purpose of the Project

The initiative encourages individuals and organizations to consider how we can transcend the present and contribute to a more prosperous future, aligning with the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We believe that everyone, from artists to students to professionals, can contribute to shaping a lively and collaborative future.

Application Details

The council has designed an application form now available on its official website. The submission period for logo designs runs until December 10, and no specific criteria related to age, profession, or experience are imposed. Everyone is invited to participate, whether amateur or professional. We encourage your creative input to help expand this movement from Japan to Asia, and eventually to the global stage, including the United Nations.

Message from Katsuhiro Hibino

Katsuhiro Hibino shared his enthusiasm for the potential creativity of participants. He invites entrants to think freely and suggest innovative designs, even if they challenge conventional definitions of a logo. The wide array of existing logos shows that there is endless potential for unique ideas.

He encourages participants to embrace their creativity, as the logo competition not only aims for a singular winning design but also values the personal growth and exploratory process each participant undertakes. The act of participation itself is meaningful, whether or not the individual ultimately submits a design. Hibino emphasizes that contemplating ideal designs in daily life will keep the project's spirit alive.

Tokyo University of the Arts and SDGs

Under Hibino’s leadership, the Tokyo University of the Arts established its SDGs Promotion Office in June 2021, committing to contribute to the achievement of these global goals. Hibino highlighted that while the 17 goals do not specifically mention the arts, the potential for artistic contributions is vast and essential across all areas of focus.

SDGs Vision of Tokyo University of the Arts

Art has been part of the SDGs for a long time. Now is the time to

doubt, inquire, and transform.

To love people, touch hearts, and mobilize society.

To innovate for a happier world.
