Celebrating Two Decades of the Miracle League of the Triangle

On September 12th, 2026, the Miracle League of the Triangle marked a monumental milestone—its 20th anniversary. The celebration, held at Andy's Foundation Field at Adams Elementary School in Cary, NC, was a heartfelt acknowledgment of the incredible dedication shown by 22 players and five coaches who have been a part of the organization since its inception in 2006.

Over the past two decades, the Miracle League has blossomed from its humble beginnings with just over 100 players into a vibrant community serving more than 650 participants each season in Cary, Raleigh, and Durham. This growth has been made possible by the unwavering support of countless volunteers who have shared their time and passion for creating a positive and inclusive environment for individuals with disabilities.

At the anniversary celebration, the atmosphere was filled with joy and nostalgia as families, players, and coaches gathered to reminisce about the memories created over the years. Food trucks, ice cream stands, and various family activities brought a festive spirit to the day. The event truly embodied the essence of the Miracle League: community, inclusion, and celebration of every individual's contribution.

Benjy Capps, the executive director of the Miracle League of the Triangle, expressed profound gratitude, saying, "This celebration is about the people who have made the Miracle League what it is today. For 20 years, these players and coaches have shown up with enthusiasm, determination, and joy. They have built friendships, inspired thousands of volunteers, and reminded all of us what inclusion truly looks like. They are the heart of our Miracle League family."

Frank B. Yarborough, a dedicated coach for 20 years and a father to one of the long-serving players, shared the profound impact coaching had on his life: "Coaching in the Miracle League has been one of the greatest blessings in my life and my son Jack's life. It is truly a miraculous experience, not only for the players, coaches, and buddies but also for the players' families. I thank God for how deeply it enriches so many lives. I am a coach, and I love all the kids. They make me rich."

Founded in 2006, the Miracle League of the Triangle continues to inspire hope and joy, providing children and adults with disabilities the chance to experience the thrill of baseball in an environment designed for success. With the support of volunteers, every game is equipped with volunteer buddies, walk-up music, and an underlying belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to play.
