Judo Workshop for Children in Hokkaido

On August 8, MED Communications Northern Japan held a compelling judo workshop at the Toyotomi Town Judo Hall, known as 'Shobukan'. The event aimed to provide an educational experience to children who are part of judo teams from the northern Hokkaido region, in collaboration with the Nakagawa Town Board of Education and Jayship Co., Ltd.

The workshop attracted about 16 local children, including members from the Toyotomi Shobukan Judo Sports Youth Team and the Wakkanai Judo Sports Youth Team. Participants not only honed their technical skills but also fostered camaraderie through mutual learning.

The emphasis of this workshop was not solely on improving judo techniques; it also sought to instill values such as perseverance towards goals and the importance of confronting difficulties without giving up. The children were seen practicing diligently, receiving advice from instructors while also learning from one another beyond their respective groups.

Our dedicated instructors included Ryosuke Takahashi from the MED Communications Northern Japan Hakodate branch, Kosuke Sasaoka, an instructor from the Shobukan Judo Sports Youth Team, and Hayato Watanabe, a faculty member at a high school in Hakodate and a former community revitalization team member of the Nakagawa Town Board of Education. They shared their extensive experience in judo and inspired participants to envision their potential and future aspirations.

Through high-level training with accomplished mentors, children were encouraged to reflect on their abilities and set new goals. Moreover, they learned the significance of respect, courtesy, and the necessity of commitment to their endeavors, regardless of challenges they may encounter.

MED Communications Northern Japan is not just focused on business growth but is equally committed to contributing to the development of the community and the future generation. The company plans to focus on social contribution activities in sports, education, and youth development starting with a rebranding initiative scheduled for July 2026.

Profiles of Instructors

- Ryosuke Takahashi has been practicing judo since he was 10 years old. He has a remarkable track record, including victories in national tournaments and international competitions, and he concluded his active judo career in 2023.

- Kosuke Sasaoka serves as an instructor for the Toyotomi Shobukan Judo Sports Youth Team.

- Hayato Watanabe, previously part of the Nakagawa Town's community revitalization team, is now on the faculty of a high school in Hakodate.
