Quantinuum and NVIDIA Join Forces for Quantum Research



In an exciting development in the realm of quantum computing, Quantinuum, renowned for having the world's most powerful quantum computer, has been selected as a founding collaborator at NVIDIA's Accelerated Quantum Research Center (NVAQC). This groundbreaking center aims to initiate operations by the end of the year and is poised to revolutionize the field of quantum research.

Accelerating Quantum Solutions



The NVAQC will leverage Quantinuum’s state-of-the-art quantum computing capabilities, including its System Model H2, which boasts an impressive performance capability of 2,097,152 quantum volumes—surpassing any other quantum computer currently available on the market. By integrating NVIDIA's advanced platform and supercomputing resources, the NVAQC will focus on developing quantum solutions and applications that could address some of the world’s most pressing issues.

The collaboration between Quantinuum and NVIDIA is not new; it has been building since 2022 when Quantinuum became the first company to integrate the CUDA-Q platform into their quantum systems. This partnership has already demonstrated significant advancements in application development and quantum error correction (QEC), and it continues to evolve.

Future Prospects of Quantum Computing



Quantinuum is committed to pushing the boundaries of quantum technology. The company has plans to launch its first logical 100-qubit system by 2027, boasting category-best error rates, which will significantly enhance computational capabilities. By the end of the decade, they aim to offer commercially scalable quantum computers featuring hundreds of logical qubits.

This advancement stems from recent technological breakthroughs, such as the development of high-quality logical qubits and overcoming scalability challenges with ion trap quantum computers. These innovations culminate in a commercial system featuring greater than 99.9% fidelity for two-qubit gates, setting a new benchmark in the field.

Enhancing AI Capabilities



As part of this collaboration, Quantinuum will provide access to its Quantum Processing Unit (QPU) and the H1 system emulator to CUDA-Q users over a trial period of 90 days. Future Quantinuum systems will remain compatible with the CUDA-Q platform, facilitating rapid adoption of Generative Quantum AI (Gen QAI). This innovative system, announced recently, utilizes data generated by Quantinuum's quantum systems to train AI, significantly improving model fidelity and addressing complex challenges previously deemed unsolvable.

Dr. Rajeeb Hazra, president and CEO of Quantinuum, emphasized that merging NVIDIA's cutting-edge AI hardware and software solutions with Quantinuum's leading quantum technologies unlocks unprecedented solutions across various markets.

Tim Costa, Senior Director of CAE, Quantum, and CUDA-X at NVIDIA, highlighted the critical importance of the NVAQC in accelerating the utility of quantum computing. He noted that the center will be the epicenter of advancements in quantum devices, driven by collaborations with partners like Quantinuum.
