Fujiyakuhin Partners with Ome City to Enhance Community Welfare and Health Services

Fujiyakuhin Forms Alliance with Ome City

On January 19, 2026, Fujiyakuhin Co., Ltd., a multifaceted pharmaceutical company based in Saitama, Japan, entered into a comprehensive partnership agreement with Ome City, Tokyo. This collaboration aims to enhance community welfare through various initiatives centered around health and safety, particularly by utilizing Fujiyakuhin's expertise in the medicine distribution industry.

The signing ceremony took place at the Ome City Hall, attended by both Mayor Yasuyuki Osei and Fujiyakuhin's Director of Sales, Kensaku Hashimoto. This partnership aims to tackle five key areas, contributing to regional revitalization and improved citizen services.

Key Areas of Collaboration

The collaboration focuses on five main points:

1. Disaster Preparedness and Response

One of the core elements of the agreement is the initiative to support disaster preparedness by providing medicine kits in public facilities around the city, which will be used as emergency supply boxes during disasters. Additionally, if shelters are opened during disasters, Fujiyakuhin will offer medication free of charge to support the city’s response efforts. Fujiyakuhin’s sales agents will also deliver information about disaster preparedness during their regular visits to customers.

2. Promotion of Citizen Health

Fujiyakuhin sales agents, who are qualified as registered sellers under the Ministry of Health, will conduct home visits to promote the proper use of Over-the-Counter (OTC) medications. They will also provide information on preventing seasonal diseases and encourage residents to undergo health examinations, thus raising health awareness in the community.

3. Community Safety and Security

To combat health issues resulting from heat-related illnesses, Fujiyakuhin will establish Cooling Shelters in seven local pharmacies and drugstores, giving residents safe places to escape extreme heat when alerts are issued by the Ministry of the Environment and the Meteorological Agency. Furthermore, Fujiyakuhin will actively participate in municipal events, setting up health booths and assisting in event promotions.

4. Monitoring Vulnerable Populations

All eight drugstores in Ome City will participate in the ‘Child 110 Base’ initiative, which provides a safe haven for children in danger. Fujiyakuhin’s sales agents will also assist in searching for missing elderly individuals, adhering to the city’s regulations regarding elder care and monitoring.

5. Additional Collaborative Efforts

Fujiyakuhin is committed to discussing and implementing other necessary measures to enhance citizen services and regional revitalization, depending on the needs identified by Ome City.

Background of the Agreement

Ome City envisions a future encapsulated by the slogan, “Surrounded by beautiful mountains and valleys, living in Tokyo.” Under the long-term town planning initiative, known as the 7th Comprehensive Long-Term Plan, the city focuses on health promotion and initiatives for senior citizens amid declining birthrates and an aging population.

Fujiyakuhin, founded in 1930, operates with the slogan “Deliver vitality, continue vitality,” and aims to support vibrant living through its various initiatives, including its innovative distribution of medicines, drugstores, and pharmacies. This partnership marks the 37th affiliation with a local government, demonstrating Fujiyakuhin's commitment to supporting local welfare through its services.

The collaboration between Fujiyakuhin and Ome City symbolizes a significant step toward ensuring the well-being of community residents as well as enhancing local services and fostering regional development. Fujiyakuhin is determined to work diligently with Ome City to promote health and improve the quality of life for its residents.
