Huawei Unveils Advanced Optical Solutions to Propel Smart Transformation Across Industries at MWC 2026
At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 held in Barcelona from March 2 to 5, Huawei proudly presented its latest advancements in optical technology designed for corporate clients. Themed "Convergence of Optical Technologies and Intelligence - AI Development Across Industries," Huawei engaged in meaningful dialogues with customers, partners, standardization bodies, and tech leaders to expedite smart transformations across various sectors of the economy.
As the intelligent era evolves, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies are reshaping industries and ecosystems more profoundly than ever before. Targeted towards corporate applications, Huawei unveiled several groundbreaking solutions, including Intelligent Fiber to the Office (iFTTO), industry-specific optical communication networks, next-generation Fiber Access Networks (FAN), and fiber optic-based sensing technologies.
In the campus sector, Huawei introduced the iFTTO solution, which transforms traditional campus networks from basic connectivity systems into platforms capable of multidimensional information convergence and the Internet of Things (IoT). This innovative solution goes beyond traditional networking, laying the groundwork for intelligent campuses by integrating sensory, computational, and control functions, thereby supporting smart transformations. To date, Huawei's iFTTO solution has been implemented in over 15,000 campuses, significantly enhancing productivity and efficiency in schools, hospitals, hotels, factories, and office complexes.
Regarding industry-specific communication networks, Huawei showcased its optical communication network solution built on a next-generation intelligent optical transmission platform (OTN), designed to meet the demands of digital and intelligent transformations in sectors such as energy, railways, public administration, and internet service providers. By leveraging AI, this solution offers advanced functions, enabling seamless evolution from Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) to fgOTN and from grey light transmission to C+L band transmission, ensuring a reliability rate of 99.999%. Additionally, computational service quality has been improved to meet the increasing demand across industries for processing power, while intelligent platform support has significantly enhanced fault localization efficiency.
For internet service providers, Huawei introduced leading end-to-end optical transmission network solutions for undersea and terrestrial cables, facilitating rapid traffic growth between data centers. In home scenarios, the company presented a next-generation FAN that elevates home networks from mere connectivity to user experience enhancement. Utilizing new Wi-Fi Mesh and FTTR technologies, alongside AI algorithms to mitigate interference, the solution enhances signal penetration through walls and boosts throughput by 20% even under stressful conditions, ensuring comprehensive home coverage. This enables high-bandwidth services like cloud gaming and 8K UHD streaming, delivering exceptional user experiences.
In the area of optical sensors, Huawei showcased innovative solutions such as fiber optic sensors for predicting the state of conveyor rolls and peripheral inspections, establishing a robust foundation for scalable AI applications. These technologies find extensive applications across various industrial scenarios, including transportation, oil and gas, mining, logistics, manufacturing, and energy, facilitating intelligent inspections and enhancing operational efficiency.
Moreover, Huawei highlighted scenario-based solutions integrating optical technologies with specific industrial applications at exhibition zones dedicated to sectors like energy, internet service provision, education, healthcare, transportation, and public administration.
Huawei is committed to continuing collaboration with industry partners to foster innovation in optical networks and expedite the implementation of AI in homes and industrial sectors worldwide.
