The Jason Foundation Marks 28 Years of Committed Advocacy Against Youth Suicide
The Jason Foundation Celebrates 28 Years in Service
On October 1, 2025, The Jason Foundation, Inc. (JFI) proudly commemorates its 28th anniversary. Founded by a group of families and friends following the tragic loss of 16-year-old Jason Flatt, the foundation’s journey has been marked by a commitment to addressing the silent crisis of youth and young adult suicide. The loss experienced by the Flatt family inspired Clark Flatt to take action, driven by a profound desire to prevent similar tragedies for other families.
From its inception, JFI has made remarkable strides in creating awareness and developing resources to combat youth suicide. With just $2,500 in initial funding, the foundation set out to make a meaningful difference. It was determined from the beginning that financial barriers would not prevent access to critical suicide prevention resources. Therefore, JFI has offered all its educational programs and materials to individuals and organizations at no cost. This commitment has allowed the foundation to touch millions, establishing it as a leading voice in suicide awareness and prevention on a national scale.
Over the years, The Jason Foundation has expanded its reach significantly, currently maintaining 188 affiliate offices across 33 states. These affiliates work tirelessly to provide educational programs and resources in all 50 states, promoting the mission to increase awareness and prevent suicide in youth and young adults. However, this crucial work relies heavily on communal engagement. While donations support logistical costs, the foundation emphasizes the importance of collective action, urging individuals to educate themselves and inspire those around them to advocate for greater understanding within their communities.
As they celebrate this notable milestone, The Jason Foundation expresses heartfelt gratitude to supporters and advocates who contribute to the ongoing fight against youth suicide. Their collective efforts have made a significant impact, from raising awareness to facilitating discussions in schools, homes, and communities.
