Midea Building Technologies Unveils Innovative Sustainable Solutions at MCE 2026
Midea Building Technologies Shines at MCE 2026
Midea Building Technologies (MBT) made a significant impact at the MCE 2026 exhibition in Milan, unveiling three key innovations in sustainable technology. The company's presentation showcased its Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) V9 system, a new range of R290 heat pumps, and cutting-edge data center cooling solutions, further solidifying MBT's position as a leader in environmentally friendly refrigerants and home to high-performance energy solutions.
The VRF V9 System
MBT introduced its advanced VRF V9 system, which features two core technologies: the ShieldBox II electrical control box and the eco-friendly R32 refrigerant. The ShieldBox II, crafted from automotive-grade diecast aluminum, allows for a volume reduction of 70%, accommodating a larger heat exchanger and enhancing outdoor unit efficiency. Its three-zone design boasts IP68-rated protection, while phase change cooling systems consistently maintain refrigerant temperatures at a stable 30°C, thereby extending the lifespan of components in extreme environments. The VRF V9 has passed the initial three-level safety assessment by TÜV for VRF systems using flammable refrigerants, ensuring its compliance with top-tier international safety standards.
The R290 Heat Pump Range
Additionally, MBT showcased its R290 heat pump range, catering to residential, commercial, and industrial applications with capacities ranging from 4 kW to 70 kW. Noteworthy among the offerings was the Mars R290 air-to-water heat pump, recognized with an excellence award at MCE. It delivers water output temperatures up to 85°C, leveraging eco-friendly R290 refrigerant. Equipped with a complete DC inverter and dual compressor backup, this heat pump ensures reliable operation. With its compact footprint of only 0.72 m² and an impressive A+++ energy class rating, it maintains 100% heating capacity at -10°C and 65% at -20°C. The R290 range also includes the Arctic M4 and Mars models, promoting a shift towards natural refrigerant heating solutions.
Data Center Cooling Solutions
MBT's interactive diorama demonstrated liquid cooling solutions tailored to meet the high-performance requirements of modern data centers. This system comprises precision cooling units, ventilation walls, and magnetic bearing centrifugal chillers, achieving an annual energy efficiency ratio of just 1.2. Signature products include the AirBoost Vera magnetic bearing chiller and various cooling units, designed with double power switching and customizable Total Harmonic Distortion rates (THDi). The AirBoost Vera reliably provides energized cooling with output water temperatures up to 36°C and a delta-T of 20°C. The technology incorporates standard indirect natural cooling and is compatible with eco-friendly refrigerants, marking it a sustainable choice for contemporary data centers.
Integrating Solutions for a Greener Future
MBT’s integrated solutions, based on comprehensive scenarios, address Europe’s evolving ecological transition needs. By continuously focusing on innovation and sustainability, MBT aims to shape a smarter, low-carbon future for the HVAC sector. Their commitment to developing technologies that reduce environmental impact while enhancing energy efficiency aligns with the growing global emphasis on sustainable practices.
Overall, MBT's presence at MCE 2026 highlighted not only its technological prowess but also its commitment to a more sustainable and energy-efficient future, solidifying its status as a key player in the HVAC industry.
