Koala x Naya Macluod Limited Edition Art Collection
Starting October 14, 2025,
Koala Sleep Japan will introduce a limited edition art collection created in collaboration with Indigenous artist
Naya Macluod. This collection is a stunning fusion of Aboriginal heritage, illustrating narratives that have been passed down over 60,000 years, and the natural beauty of Australia, reimagined as modern home ware.
Products in the Collection
Among the highlights of the collection is the
Gupu Dreaming Cushion Cover priced at 5,500 yen. Inspired by the Aboriginal word for “water,” the design reflects the dynamic flow of water and its life-giving essence. Along with the cushion cover, the collection features several other products including serene earth-toned home wares like throw blankets, capturing the tranquility of nature.
Naya Macluod’s Legacy
Naya Macluod’s work embodies the traditions and stories of her ancestors, connecting the past with modern expressions through her art. In 2016, she designed a logo for the Australian government that showcases Aboriginal identity. Purchasing items from this collection will also contribute to supporting the charity
ID. Know Yourself, which aids Aboriginal children living in facilities or with foster families, helping to break the cycle of trauma across generations.
120-Day Trial Period
Koala offers customers the chance to experience all of its products at home risk-free for 120 days. Should these items not meet expectations, they can be returned for free anywhere in Japan, allowing everyone to sleep comfortably and peacefully. This commitment underscores Koala's mission to ensure every individual enjoys restful sleep.

About Koala
In Japan, where people average less sleep than any other OECD country, the importance of restful sleep is crucial. Established in 2015 in Australia as a D2C furniture and bedding brand, Koala entered the Japanese market in 2017, continuing to innovate in mattress design focused on enhancing sleep performance (or
'Sleap').
Koala's efforts have paid off: their
Original Koala Mattress won first place in both the recommended high-resilience and low-resilience mattress categories as ranked by MyBest, a product comparison service, in September 2024. Following this, they introduced the
Koala Mattress® PLUS and
Koala Mattress® SUPREME in October 2024, both featuring sophisticated designs inspired by Australia’s natural scenery.
Under the mission of creating a healthier and happier living environment, Koala has donated over 1.5 million Australian dollars to the
World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to support conservation efforts, including those for endangered species such as koalas. In Japan, these efforts also help endangered native species including the Amami rabbit and the Miyako snake.
Revolutionizing Sleep at Home
Koala® is reinventing the Japanese bedroom experience by combining D2C with customer-centric product development, simplifying the purchase process, and providing robust customer service with next-day delivery options, along with a hassle-free return policy for up to 120 days.
Commitment to a Healthy Planet
Koala has committed to supporting the
1% FOR THE PLANET initiative, building a network of businesses dedicated to funding environmental projects.
