CATL Unveils Shenxing Pro: A Game Changer for E-Mobility in Europe

At the IAA Mobility 2025 event, CATL introduced the Shenxing Pro, the world's first lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that maintains high voltage for extended periods while ensuring safety in thermal instability scenarios. Designed to meet the growing demands of the European e-mobility market, the Shenxing Pro sets new benchmarks for safety, durability, range, and ultra-fast charging, making it a key player in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle (EV) market in Europe.

Addressing Challenges in the European EV Market

The popularity of electric vehicles in Europe has surged dramatically, with market penetration rising from 23% to 26% in the first half of 2025. Projections suggest a target of 29% by year's end. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), EV sales in Europe are expected to reach four million units this year, marking an increase of 3.2 million units from 2024. However, consumer skepticism still exists, highlighted by McKinsey's 2025 Consumer Mobility Pulse study. Key barriers identified include high costs, battery durability, range limitations, gaps in charging infrastructure, and battery safety concerns. The Shenxing Pro directly addresses these issues, offering tailored specifications and safety features to meet the diverse needs of European drivers.

Revolutionary Battery Technology

Equipped with CATL's proprietary NP 3.0 technology, Shenxing Pro introduces a significant advancement in battery innovation. Comprehensive enhancements in chemical technology, mechanical structure, circuits, and control systems are included. It comes in two variations: Shenxing Pro Super Long Life and Long Range. This first-ever LFP battery provides an impressive WLTP range of 758 km and exceptional durability with a lifespan of 12 years or one million kilometers, setting a new standard in these areas. With a mere 9% degradation after the first 200,000 km, this battery is perfectly suited to the European leasing market.

The Shenxing Pro charges to a WLTP range of 478 km in just ten minutes—equating to 0.8 km per second—making it the fastest charging LFP battery in Europe. Delivering 830 kW of power and achieving 0 to 100 km/h in merely 2.5 seconds, even at a 20% charge, it offers outstanding performance and reliable durability in various conditions. Remarkably, the battery maintains excellent performance in extreme cold, reaching a range of 410 km after 20 minutes in temperatures as low as -20°C. With a ten-year warranty (or 240,000 km), it redefines durability in ultra-fast charging scenarios.

Both variants utilize CATL's proprietary NP 3.0 technology, a pinnacle achievement from seven years of safety innovation, offering unparalleled safety characteristics. It is recognized for maintaining high voltage for over an hour following thermal instability incidents, allowing drivers to escape hazardous areas without smoke or flames—meeting the elevated current safety criteria being implemented as self-driving technology progresses into levels 3 and 4.

The Shenxing Pro features CATL’s innovative Wave cells, designed with enhanced arm construction based on space-divided technology. This battery is the first of its kind to incorporate cooling and mounting configurations on all sides, transcending previous limitations. These structures significantly reduce vibrations, increasing the battery module's stiffness by 25% and doubling its durability. The design overcomes the constraints of the traditional Cell-to-Body (CTB) model, achieving an impressive volume efficiency of 76% in the battery module. By amalgamating these features, the Shenxing Pro redefines electric mobility in Europe, offering unmatched safety, extended range, exceptional durability, and ultra-fast charging capabilities.
