HealthCode and PCSI Celebrate Contributions of the Disabled Workforce This October

HealthCode and PCSI Honor Contributions of Disabled Individuals in the Workforce

As we enter October, a month dedicated to raising awareness around the invaluable contributions of individuals with disabilities in the workforce, HealthCode and Professional Contract Services, Inc. (PCSI) join forces to announce the 'No Barriers' virtual activity challenge. This initiative aims to promote health and wellness while celebrating the hard work and dedication of disabled individuals across the United States.

October marks an important milestone, as it is the 80th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). Originally established in 1945 as a week-long observance, this initiative has evolved significantly over the years. In 1988, NDEAM was officially recognized by Congress with the aim of enhancing opportunities for people with disabilities, including those facing mental health challenges and those with disabilities that are not immediately visible.

Tony Cucolo, president and CEO of PCSI, emphasizes the organization's commitment to improving the lives of people with disabilities through employment. He stated, "Every day, we witness the community we serve overcoming obstacles within the workplace to lead fulfilling lives. The 'No Barriers' challenge serves as a reminder that everyone can excel, regardless of the obstacles they face. We encourage individuals to join us in this effort, whether by walking, running, cycling, or simply moving in whichever way suits them."

Steve Amos, CEO and founder of HealthCode, echoed this sentiment, urging everyone to acknowledge the contributions of hardworking individuals with disabilities while fostering a healthier lifestyle. He expressed hope that participants would enjoy the challenge while taking steps towards improved health and well-being.

How to Participate in the 'No Barriers' Challenge

Joining the 'No Barriers' challenge is straightforward and accessible for all. Interested individuals can register on the dedicated 'No Barriers' registration page, where they can track their physical activities, including distances or minutes logged, using HealthCode's online activity tracker. The program features a live leaderboard, showcasing the efforts of participants around the globe.

Additionally, participants have the option to set up a FundDash fundraiser—a feature that allows individuals to establish a fundraising goal and share it with friends and colleagues via email and social media platforms. Participants can choose to join as individuals or Teams, and organizations are welcome to participate too. Businesses and groups are encouraged to register at HealthCode's official site.

Since its inception in 2014, HealthCode has seen impressive participation in its virtual events, with over 197,000 registrants achieving a remarkable 20 million miles and nearly 325 million minutes of physical activity. This statistic translates into the burning of over 2.3 billion calories!
