Tokyo City Hall Unveils New Projection Mapping Works

Tokyo is continuously seeking innovative ways to enhance its nighttime charm, and the latest initiative comes from the City Hall. A dazzling projection mapping display transforms the building into a canvas for light and sound art year-round.

Starting on August 23, two new works featuring the music of the dynamic dance vocal group, "The New School Leaders," known globally, will premiere. The songs highlighted are their representative track "Otona Blue" and the newest song "TTTTOKYO." To mark the debut, an exciting event featuring the group will take place on the opening day.

The exhilarating sound of "TTTTOKYO" is accompanied by a vibrant display of colors, lights, and culture associated with Tokyo, creating an immersive representation of the city on the City Hall's exterior. Witness the power of the four-member group as their energy illuminates Tokyo's nightscape through dynamic projection mapping.

Screening Schedule

The projection mapping will be showcased daily throughout August. The September showtimes will be available on the official website. Besides these new works, other projections will also be part of the program.

Event on Opening Day

On August 23, to celebrate the unveiling of "Otona Blue" and "TTTTOKYO," an exciting event featuring "The New School Leaders" will occur. Join them for a memorable first screening experience!

Who Are The New School Leaders?

As a representation of “youth Japan,” this four-member dance vocal unit continues to soar on the global stage. Their powerful performances, where all the choreography is created by its members, have garnered immense support. They expanded into international markets in 2021 under the Asian cultural platform 88rising. Recently, in 2023, they performed as the opening act for the prestigious New Year’s Eve music event, the Kohaku Uta Gassen, and are set to perform at Coachella in 2024. Their world tour, covering 33 cities across Europe, Asia, North America, and Japan, remains a strong pull for fans worldwide.

Visitor Attendance Achievements

As of October 2025, the cumulative viewers of the "TOKYO Night & Light" projection mapping surpassed 1.55 million, solidifying an established nighttime tourism attraction within the city, contributing to Tokyo ranking first in nightlife quality in the global city comprehensive strength report by the Mori Memorial Foundation. The project also earned a Guinness World Record for the largest building dedicated to projection mapping.
