Metallium Strengthens US Subsidiary with Gregory L. Bowman's Appointment as Defense Advisor
Metallium Enhances Advisory Board with Strategic Appointment
Metallium, Ltd., previously known as MTM Critical Metals, has made a significant leap toward fortifying its strategic operations in the United States by appointing Gregory L. Bowman to the newly formed Advisory Board of its U.S. subsidiary, Flash Metals USA, Inc. This notable addition comes as the company seeks to leverage Bowman's extensive background in defense and national security, alongside his expertise in critical mineral supply chains.
Bowman, who serves as the Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Vice President of National Security Solutions at Siemens Government Technologies, brings over three decades of invaluable experience to his new role. His previous work has been pivotal for federal clients in areas such as digitalization, advanced manufacturing, and energy resilience. Michael Walshe, the Managing Director and CEO of Metallium, expressed confidence in Bowman's abilities, remarking that his unique blend of strategic insight and public-private partnership experience will be crucial for scaling Flash Metals USA's efforts to supply critical metals and rare earths in the U.S.
"Greg brings an unparalleled combination of strategic vision, national security expertise, and deep understanding of public-private partnerships. This expertise is invaluable as Flash Metals USA scales its modular, onshore technology platform to help secure the supply of rare earths and strategic metals for the U.S.," Walshe stated.
Metallium is embarking on a mission to commercialize its patented Flash Joule Heating (FJH) technology in the U.S., aiming to transform the processing of critical and strategic minerals. The technology allows for the recovery of metals from ore and waste without the harmful impacts of smelting or using acids. Bowman's involvement signifies a progressive step for the company, as it seeks to build a top-tier advisory board comprising high-profile candidates from various sectors, including chemical processing and defense contracting.
Reflecting on the importance of his new role, Bowman remarked, "The United States has a critical need to reestablish resilient, secure, and domestic supply chains for rare earths and other strategic materials. Flash Metals USA's technology offers an innovative and scalable solution aligned with these national priorities. I'm excited to support the company's mission to bring clean, high-efficiency refining solutions to the forefront of U.S. industrial policy and our national readiness."
Bowman's impressive career boasts leadership within Siemens Government Technologies, where he tackled numerous high-priority initiatives, including advancing energy infrastructure and ensuring secure microelectronics within defense systems. Furthermore, his 25-year tenure in the U.S. Army culminated in a position as Strategic Military Law and Policy Advisor to the Army's Secretary, emphasizing his commitment to national security and defense policy.
With a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and advanced military law and strategy qualifications, Bowman's academic credentials further enhance his capability to contribute effectively to Flash Metals USA's objectives.
Metallium is characterized by its innovative approach towards a low-carbon, high-efficiency methodology for recovering metals from mineral concentrations. As the company prepares to develop its first commercial plant in Texas, which targets the recovery of a range of metals for specialty markets, the collaboration with Bowman is anticipated to elevate its standing within the industry.
In summary, this strategic appointment aligns with the growing emphasis on the need for sustainable domestic mineral supply chains. As Bowman steps into this influential advisory role, the industry watches closely to see how his guidance will shape the future of metallurgical practices while promoting national interests in the U.S. economy and defense strategies.
