The Embrace of Nature: Introducing Maker’s Watch Knot's WOOD DIAL Collection
In a stunning display of craftsmanship and nature,
Maker’s Watch Knot has launched its latest collection, the
WOOD DIAL Collection, featuring exquisite dials made from natural cherry wood. Set to release in 2024, this collection builds upon the popularity of last year’s seasonal model,
Hikoba (meaning sapling), and brings this beautiful cherry dial into the regular mechanical series.
The collection offers a unique blend of Japan’s natural beauty and the precision of mechanical watches, creating a new standard for timepieces that is both evocative and innovative. Each watch is more than just a timekeeper; it tells a story of nature through the medium of exquisite craftsmanship.
Exquisite Craftsmanship in Every Detail
The dials utilize a special material known as “Sewable Wood,” developed by
Taniguchi Co., Ltd., a company specializing in woodworking. This material combines natural wood, sliced to a thickness of 0.12 to 0.15mm, with non-woven fabric, resulting in a flexible yet durable product. The creation of this unique material took over 12 years of dedicated experimentation, allowing the warmth of natural wood to come alive in the dial of the watch. Without “Sewable Wood,” achieving the desired form for mechanical watch dials would have been virtually impossible.
Unique Patterns of Natural Cherry
Utilizing cherry wood, which holds special significance in Japanese culture, each dial features unique wood grain patterns. The gentle curves formed by the tree rings and the soft pink hue create a warm aesthetic, embodying the spirit of cherry blossoms. Unlike metals or plastics, cherry wood allows wearers to experience Nature’s artistry directly on their wrist, making every piece a unique artwork.
Authentic Mechanical Expansion
The WOOD DIAL Collection includes models
CAP-38 with an open heart design, and
CAS-36, a classic small seconds watch. Both models are equipped with Japanese-made mechanical movements, harmonizing the organic texture of natural wood with the rhythmic ticking of a mechanical watch. The collection offers two case color options: elegant silver and warm rose gold. The silver case features color-coordinated subdials and hands for a clean, refined look, while the rose gold case is paired with dark brown indices, perfectly complementing the warm tones of the cherry wood.
Attention to Detail
Every aspect of the design has been carefully considered. The
CAP-38 model includes a black minute track for enhanced legibility, while the outer ring and bar indices of the open heart feature metallic accents for heightened texture. The
CAS-36 model incorporates a grey hue for a balanced aesthetic, ensuring it stands out without overwhelming the natural beauty of wood.
The WOOD DIAL Collection, merging the cycles of mountain cherry that have counted the passage of time for centuries with the precision of mechanical clocks, brings a fresh perspective on the concept of time. This collection offers a unique convergence of natural and mechanical time, promising a truly special watch for your wrist.
