Ribasta Launches Innovative CO2 Management Service in Construction Industry
Ribasta Inc., based in Koto-ku, Tokyo, has made significant strides in the construction industry with the launch of their new cloud service,
TansoMiru Fuel. This groundbreaking service effectively calculates CO2 emissions based on fuel purchasing data, marking the first of its kind in the construction sector. By leveraging data from fuel purchases for heavy machinery and vehicles used on job sites,
TansoMiru Fuel offers a streamlined approach to accurately assess the CO2 emissions resulting from construction activities.
The Need for Innovative Solutions
As the Japanese government pledges to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the construction industry faces increasing pressure to visualize and reduce CO2 emissions. Notably, emissions from heavy machinery and vehicles during the construction phase account for approximately 80% of total emissions. However, the management of this data has been largely inconsistent, with each contracting firm employing its own methods for data collection. This inconsistency has led to a significant workload for personnel responsible for gathering and calculating emissions data.
To address these challenges, Ribasta initiated a practical demonstration project in May 2024, collaborating with 17 main contractors and 25 fuel delivery companies across the country. The goal was to validate the efficacy of this service and standardize CO2 emission management in the construction industry.
Successful Demonstration Project
The results of the demonstration project revealed that utilizing
TansoMiru Fuel significantly improves the accuracy of CO2 emissions calculations. Traditionally, emissions were estimated using average fuel consumption and operational hours, often leading to approximated figures. In comparative tests, it was determined that the fuel consumption data from
TansoMiru produced CO2 emissions estimates nearly half those of conventional calculation methods.
During the project, over 2,000 purchasing records were linked, optimizing operations to alleviate burdens on both contractors and fuel suppliers, ultimately validating the practical utility of the service.
Highlights of the New Service
TansoMiru Fuel enables main contractors to efficiently connect fuel purchase data from delivery companies, thereby streamlining the calculation of CO2 emissions attributable to machinery and vehicle use on job sites. This service reduces the operational workload for both contractors and fuel providers.
Moreover, it includes a feature to search for bio-diesel fuel options, aiding in the development of strategies aimed at reducing emissions and facilitating the distribution of sustainable fuel.
Benefits for Main Contractors
- - Gathers essential fuel data effectively, ensuring accurate CO2 emission calculations based on real usage.
- - Lightens the operational burden on site personnel through seamless data integration from fuel suppliers.
- - Allows for procurement of collaborative fuel data, thus enhancing emission assessments.
- - Identifies available bio-diesel delivery companies, creating efficient planning for emission reduction strategies.
Benefits for Fuel Delivery Companies
- - Establishes a unified format for submitting fuel data, mitigating individual company requests and reducing workloads.
- - Strengthens trust with main contractors as a recognized provider of purchasing data, encouraging new business opportunities.
- - Positions suppliers as environmentally conscious entities through the promotion of their bio-diesel offerings.
Industry Endorsements
