As tax season unfolds, countless hardworking families are gearing up to navigate the complexities of filing their tax returns. This year, Hispanic Unity of Florida (HUF) launches its 23rd year of providing free and professional tax preparation services to eligible households, ensuring that every dollar counts in the financial lives of families. As Felipe Pinzón, President and CEO of HUF, asserts, "Our mission is simple: empower families to reach financial stability."

For many, tax season can trigger anxiety, particularly for those concerned about the potential costs or the risk of making mistakes on their returns. HUF's program alleviates this pressure by offering free services, carried out by IRS-certified volunteers, who guarantee accuracy and help to maximize refunds. Beyond just filing taxes, HUF strives to instill hope and peace of mind in families, as these refunds often play a crucial role in covering essential expenses such as rent, utilities, food, and healthcare.

Supported by IRS-certified volunteers and strong community partnerships in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, HUF's program empowers eligible residents to maximize their refunds, avoid unnecessary fees, and file their taxes with confidence. Since its inception in 2003, this initiative has emerged as one of the region's most impactful financial empowerment programs.

In the previous year alone, the program served nearly 4,000 families, returning close to $3 million in tax refunds to the community while saving residents over $1.2 million in preparation fees. This significant financial relief showcases the program’s effectiveness in meeting the needs of those it serves.

The services provided are available to qualifying households, including individuals with disabilities and those with limited proficiency in English. HUF ensures that all assistance is delivered with a focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and care through its dedicated IRS-certified volunteers.
