Consco Foods Expands Reach with Allied Food Distributors Acquisition

In a significant move within the food distribution industry, Consco Foods Inc., recognized as a leading player in the protein import and export sector, has announced its acquisition of Allied Food Distributors. This strategic acquisition is set to position Consco as a prominent player in the Canadian kosher food market and is expected to enhance product diversification significantly.

The Legacy of Allied Food Distributors

Founded over 90 years ago, Allied Food Distributors has grown into a trusted name in the distribution of premium kosher food products throughout Canada. Known for its strong partnerships with renowned brands such as OSEM, Allied has cultivated a loyal customer base by offering high-quality food options that cater to evolving dietary preferences. The acquisition solidifies Consco’s commitment to expanding its kosher product range and meeting the demands of a diverse clientele.

A Strategic Partnership

Effective August 1, 2025, Consco will operate as the exclusive importer and distributor for Agri Star Meat & Poultry, adding the well-regarded Aaron's Best brand to its portfolio. This coupling of expertise and brand strength will significantly enhance the variety of kosher products available, ensuring that customers enjoy reliable access to high-quality options.

According to Ronnie and Mikey Cons, Co-Presidents of Consco Foods, the integration of Allied marks a pivotal opportunity to leverage outstanding products and brands while strengthening their commitment to customer service. They noted, “We're passionate about the kosher space and see this as a tremendous opportunity to grow with best-in-class product offerings and brands.”

Efficient Integration and Operations

Post-acquisition, the operations of Allied will transition to Consco's modern 140,000 square foot distribution center. While integrated into the infrastructure of Consco, Allied will maintain its independent operations to uphold its established brand identity and customer relationships. This hybrid operational model ensures that Allied can continue to deliver its signature service levels while benefiting from Consco's extensive resources and market reach.

Mitchell Weitzman, Vice President of Allied, expressed optimism regarding the merger, stating, “Allied has been a trusted name in kosher food distribution for decades. We're proud to bring it together with Consco and look forward to expanding the business with additional lines that meet our customers' evolving needs.”

Future Prospects

The unification of these two companies creates a powerhouse of kosher food distribution in Canada. Daniel Dabora, CFO of Consco Foods, emphasized the importance of this acquisition in establishing their position as a leader in the kosher food sector, stating that this move consolidates trusted kosher brands under a single umbrella, enhancing their ability to meet consumer needs effectively.

This acquisition aligns with Consco's long-standing goal of ensuring high-quality products and exceptional service, echoing their mission to reliably deliver great tasting kosher food throughout Canada and beyond.

As Consco Foods prepares for this new chapter, the food industry watches closely to see how this consolidation will impact kosher food accessibility and distribution across Canada, setting the stage for future expansions and innovations in the sector.
